Chapter 29 - Chapter 28: Plow and Jumping Away

"What...what's going on?!"

Sears and the others were stunned on the spot.

They had witnessed Leon shoot two bullets in the chest and one in the head with their own eyes. Even if they didn't understand military matters, they knew that an ordinary person would be powerless to turn the tide.

However, even after the villager's head exploded, several half meter or even one meter long blood red vines still managed to sprout from their necks.

?!

Leon was equally shocked.

However, all the training he received was in preparation for the current situation.

After only a slight hesitation, Leon strode forward, raised his left foot, and forcefully stomped on the villager's chest, directly preventing him from struggling to get up.

At the same time, the USP's muzzle was also pointed downwards, aimed at the tumor on the villager's neck

Dak! dak! dak!

The crisp sound of rapid firing echoed.

Pfft! Pfft! Bang!

After being hit by several 40SW bullets with strong stopping power at close range, the tumor finally could not escape the law of fire power and exploded directly.

The blood sprayed forward a meter or two like a splattered milk tea, and the tentacles became soft and weak.

It seems that this time it is truly all dead.

Bang!

But Leon still fired a final shot into the man's body.

Once he was sure the villagers were no longer moving, he quickly removed the magazine with a few bullets left, put it into the storage bag hanging on his back, and took out a full magazine and loaded it.

After reloading in less than two seconds and scanning the surrounding area to ensure there were no immediate threats, Leon freed his right hand, pulled up his sleeve, and touched the personal computer attached to his left forearm, immediately calling for emergency support from the ARS company.

Seeing that the distress call had been successfully sent, Leon gripped the USP again and said to Sears and the others out of the corner of his eye, "Stay close to me. Survival is the priority now."

"You've really gone to so much trouble, Mr. Joseph. Without you...we would all be dead here."

Sears felt both guilty and grateful.

The group of students never expected that what they thought was a greedy second;rate mercenary would turn out to be a surprisingly efficient and effective force when dealing with the rebels and the unexpectedly mutated villagers.

"Stop talking nonsense, remember to pay later, let's go."

Leon didn't try to be modest, he kept talking about the commission, seemingly because he'd been cheated out of money and was still holding a grudge.

He then led Sears and the others quickly along the row of thatched huts, into the alleyway between them.

He walked to the entrance of the alley.

Squat down to observe.

Looking out over the village square, Leon and his group saw that among the mixed group of rebels and villagers, there were many mutants whose heads had been replaced by blood-red vines.

Furthermore, the mutants can also operate firearms and fire at the real rebels in the dense forest, although their accuracy is somewhat worrying.

When Leon took out his monoculars and zoomed in for a closer look, he discovered that they still looked human, but their eyes were bloodshot and had no pupils.

Based on these obvious characteristics, Leon could conclude that both the rebels and the villagers were infected.

Based on the villagers he previously killed, it can be inferred that when infected individuals suffer excessive fatal injuries, the blood-red vines residing within their bodies will take over control, marking the second stage of the disease.

Mutant.

And only the Stairway to the Sunncould create such a scene.

As for how the villagers were brought back to life and assimilated and infected the rebels, Leon had no way of knowing. He could only wait for reinforcements to arrive so that scientists could reverse engineer the process.

After putting away the monoculars, Leon pointed to a tin roofed house on the left, indicating that they would go inside to take shelter.

Sears and the others nodded, understanding the intention.

Seeing this, Leon took a deep breath, adjusted his rhythm, and was the first to get up and rush out of the alley.

Maybe it's good luck?

They remained undetected by the infected throughout their journey.

After all, the rebels who wanted to occupy the village were still launching attacks with all their might, drawing almost all of Leon, Sears and the others' attention.

But when Leon kicked the door open and let the Sears students and faculty go inside to take shelter, their luck seemed to run out, because an infected man carrying an RPG-7 turned around and was about to pull the trigger on the metal shed.

Sizzle!

But for some reason, the infected person's chest cavity ruptured directly to the head, and blood and muscle tissue splattered in all directions.

Bang!

The next moment, the distinctive large caliber gunshots of anti machine snipers came from the southwest.

That wasn't the direction where the rebels were gathering, and no one would notice who fired the shot in the heat of battle.

Da! Da!

As for Leon, who had already entered the tin roofed house and completed the search, he was crouching by the door, firing shots at the increasing number of infected people trying to approach.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The bullets whistled through the air.

Smack! Smack!

The corrugated iron wall was easily penetrated.

Fortunately, the Sears students and teachers were all lying on the ground, and the infected's shooting skills were even worse than those of the rebels and civilians before they were infected, so everyone did not have to worry about safety for the time being.

Leon, however, had to constantly change positions, running out of the tin shack, then sliding and rolling to the side of the fallen giant tree, using it as cover, kneeling down to engage in firefights with the infected, and even the rebels who occasionally rushed into the village.

Click! Click! Click!

Hearing the sound of an empty magazine being loaded, Leon didn't have time to think. He lightly touched the slot with his right hand and flung out the empty magazine, while his left hand reached behind his waist to take out a full magazine and install it.

With the right thumb flicking the safety, a click! sounded as the silver slide returned to its original position, indicating that a bullet was chambered.

But Leon's expression was extremely solemn.

This was his last magazine, even the previously recovered magazines were empty. If reinforcements arrived...

Whoosh...

Leon was just wondering when reinforcements would arrive when he heard a faint rumbling sound.

Leon looked up, when he saw something in the sky he smirks

"Looks like back up came"

boom!

Then I saw an A-10 Warthog with a gray-white paint scheme and full of ammunition flying low overhead.

After slowing down and circling once to adjust the fuselage angle, Leon observed the movement from left to right, and then....

Ri Buzz buzz buzz buzz!!

The seven-barreled 30mm GAU-8 rotary cannon plowed away the infected, rebels, and even a third of the villages that posed a threat to Leon in just a few seconds.

When the pilot maneuvered the A-10 back and flew over the rainforest from right to left, he launched a large number of air-to-ground missiles at the rainforest.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The rainforest, the size of three football fields, was completely razed to the ground, with trees and soil overturned, not to mention the rebels.

Immediately afterwards, a CH-53E Sea Stallion, escorted by an AH-1W Super Cobra, arrived over the village and hovered at an altitude of about 20 meters above the ground.

Then, a soldier, without any rope, leaped out of the cabin and fell freely to the ground.

The expected scene of him slipping and falling did not unfold. Instead, with a muffled thump!, the soldier landed steadily.

Thump! Thump!

Moreover, more and more soldiers are jumping out of the aircraft and completing untethered descents.
