Chapter 3 - Entrance Exam

[SS-Rank Skill: Copy Activated]

[Do you wish to copy the S-Rank Skill: Teleportation?]

[Yes] [No]

...

'Why the hell are you even asking? Of course, yes.'

As soon as Caelir thought 'Yes.'

The interface changed.

...

[You have successfully copied S-Rank Skill: Teleportation]

...

But before Caelir can think about it, the blue magic circles under his feet glowed brighter, and then the vision changed.

He was no longer at the teleportation service center.

Currently standing on one of the platforms, where hundreds of people appear out of thin air.

Caelir walked down the platform while opening his new skill description.

...

Teleportation

Rank: S

Type: Movement

Description:

Instantly moves the user to a place they have seen before by bending space. The farther the distance, the more energy it consumes. Using it repeatedly can cause dizziness and mental strain, and it cannot pass through areas protected by spatial barriers.

...

'It was a good life-saving skill.'

A small grin formed on Caelir's lips.

He walked towards the area where participants lined up.

The seniors of the Academy are guiding the participants to the Exam Hall.

While following the senior lead them to the exam hall, Caelir thought,

'Now that I think about it, my class was SSS Rank.'

Recalling that he immediately checked his Class description.

...

Iridescent Monarch

Rank: SSS

Description:

A class that represents power without a single shape. This class does not embody one concept. It reflects many.

Unlike ordinary classes that define a fixed path, element, or role, the Iridescent Monarch has no predetermined form. Its strength changes according to the user, the situation, and the will imposed upon it.

Just as iridescence shifts with perspective, the Iridescent Monarch manifests power differently in every moment, refusing to be confined to one identity or rule.

It is not a class of specialization. It is a class of dominance through adaptability.

...

'Oh damn! worthy of SSS Rank.'

Caelir quickly recalled the novel in his mind.

If he remembers correctly, there are currently fewer than 30 SSS Rank individuals alive, including some from other races.

Just because one has the SSS Rank Class doesn't mean they are invincible.

Fighting across progression stages is nearly impossible, even for SSS Class holders.

Defecting SSS class holders in the same progression stage is also nearly impossible due to the absurd skills they might have.

So, if a person awakens SSS Rank Class, the council will protect and train them to be the next generation of leaders.

But Caelir has no intention of telling anyone.

His Class listed as A Rank: Tempest Duelist, which is great for bending in masses.

"It's Perfect."

...

Caelir and participants entered into a large hall with seating for over 300 people.

The Examiner greeted the students and let them sit in random seats, once all 300 seats were occupied. He started to explain,

"The Entrance Exam consists of two stages: a written exam and a practical showcase."

"Let us start, written exam. We won't take your devices since they will automatically stop working after entering this room. Keep in mind, cheating means immediate kickout. And..."

Caelir listened to the Examiner's words carefully and opened the laptop before him.

After logging in, he started answering the questions.

They are mostly about history, monsters, and other intellectual species, and so on.

Two hours passed, and Caelir walked out of the room.

'Well, it was easier than I thought. Now, where should I go next?'

He looked around as he saw participants entering another hall, but this time, one by one. The queue was increasing.

Caelir quickly joined the line.

Fortunately, he didn't wait long before his turn came.

He took a deep breath before entering the room, what it looks like a training room.

Caelir looked up, where behind the glass stood five people.

Without wasting any time, one of them asked,

"State your name and Rank."

"Caelir Vayne. [Silver 1]"

Hearing Caelir answer, the Examiner paused for a moment before saying,

"Alright, Caelir. Let me see..."

The Examiner quickly checked Caelir's application on his laptop before saying,

"So, you are a sword user, but wait... why is it stated that you are [Iron 2]?"

Caelir nodded, already prepared for the answer,

"My servant made a mistake; I wanted to re-apply but I stopped thinking it might lead to fraud issues and such."

The Examiner turned his face towards others and nodded,

"Alright, Caelir, pick up a sword and be ready."

Caelir took a sword from the weaponry on the side and said,

"I am ready."

Then Examiners voice reached Caelir, saying,

"You will be fighting against five Junior-grade dummies; points will be calculated by timer. The faster you do, the more points you get."

Caelir just nodded without any answer.

Then the door opposite the entrance door opened as five white colored humanoid dummies walked in and stood in front of Caelir.

"3... 2... 1... Begin."

As soon countdown reached zero, dummies and Caelir launched at each other.

The dummy in front threw its fist towards Caelir's face, but he took a simple sidestep and thrust his sword into the dummy's head.

But he didn't stop even for a second and used his wind mastery propel himself forward to instantly close the distance between them.

Caelir moved into the middle of the remaining four dummies, stopped, then rotated in a full circle as he slashed.

Four dummies' heads and bodies fell simultaneously, with clean cuts on them.

The Examiner took a few seconds before saying,

"Caelir Vayne. Result: 6.23 seconds"

And he stared at Caelir and asked,

"You are eligible for the Top 30 ranking. Since students possess different powers, completion time alone cannot properly evaluate performance. Therefore, only the thirty fastest candidates are selected to participate in a battle royale for ranking. But it's optional, if you don't want to participate, that's fine as well."

Caelir acted as if he was seriously pondering it, but he already decided in his mind.

"No, I won't participate."

The Examiner nodded and asked,

"Why?"

Caelir smiled and answered truthfully,

"I won't bite more than I can chew."

Leaving those words, Caelir turned back.

.

'Besides, even if I don't participate in battle royale, my ranking should be in the top 50's to top 30's. Even in the worst-case scenario, it should be above the top 100.

Now then…

Time to measure what I can truly do.

Status'
