Chapter 1 - The Night it all happened

"I need another bottle" Ava shouts as she looks in the bartender's direction. His eyes met hers and he nodded in understanding.

Ava was on her third bottle and it doesn't seem she will be stopping any time soon. The bartender bought another bottle of Vodka. "The man in that corner, said he will pay for it". The bartender points to a Man in a corner.

She couldn't see him well but she was sure it was some ugly fat man. And she is definitely turning him down. He is not the first man she had turned down that night. "Seems the bottles must be going through a lot". The Corner Man was already in front of her. Eva was already disgusted and tired of the Men who kept coming into her that night. She just wanted to drown herself in her thoughts. Why can't these Adamaic Creatures just leave me alone?. I really have had enough of them. "Can you leave me the fuck alone?" Eva retorted. She decided to take a look at the ugly fat man disrupting her emotional wreck session. And she got struck. Not struck because of the bar's lighting but because this was no Man but a god. The angels were not in charge of this creation but it was God himself who made this work of art. Every feature on his face seemed deliberately crafted—brows sharp and commanding, nose perfectly aligned, and a chin that completed the masterpiece of his jawline. Eva gawked at the art right in front of her. It was not fat ugly as a Man."Now you want to take a picture?" "I am sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I am really in no mood to talk or give out my number". Eva said after finally finding her words. She didn't care if he was the most physically gifted Man on earth, she was really done with Men.

She didn't just come to the bar to drown in these bottles but to wreck her already damaged heart. She just broke up with her boyfriend of 4 years or maybe he broke up with her instead. "You look like someone who's really tired of being strong". And that struck my heart. How did he know? Was it that obvious I just got jilted? Way to go, Eva, everyone here knows how much of a loser you are. "Thanks for stating the obvious, now can you excuse me or have you got some more truths to utter". Eva saw a look on his face, was that a pitiful look? Wait, he is now feeling pity for her. Am I some sort of pitiful case? Damn, you Daniel. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I honestly think you need to let your heart cry out. It is totally fine, you don't need to bury your feelings behind some bottles" He was right. Getting drunk was no solution to her problems. After all, she will return to them when she gets sober. She reflects on the reason why she is at the Bar. She rarely comes to places like this. Alcohols and night bars were never Eva's thing. But A heartbreak has a way of making you start doing things you never wanted to do. "Have you ever been in love?" Eva asked him. He laughed. Was it funny? Did the question have some hidden humor?"Love? Come on! Is there anything as such?" He seemed to be the type who never believed in love. It would be a waste of time for Eva to tell him what she was going through. Maybe he is some playboy whose first love broke his heart. A shame actually or a gain, he doesn't have to fool away his time like she is presently over a heartbreak. "I must look like a fool to you. Love is the reason why I am like this". Eva poured the last drop of drink in the bottle into her cup. She slowly gulped it at once. "I gave this Man my whole heart and what did I get in return?". She laughed. "I got a "it is not you, it is me". The Corner Men kept on looking at her. He didn't say anything but his eyes were telling her to go on talking. And that night, Eva poured her heart out to a stranger. Though that wasn't all that she poured that night. "Maybe I was a fool. The signs were right there. I thought he was different or he made me think so. I had no life outside him. He was my everything, until he dropped those words. My world crashed down". Eva was close to tears, she couldn't control her tears anymore. Daniel was her world and now she knows no world anymore. The corner man still didn't say anything. He was looking at her with keen interest to see if she was some art to be studied to pass the National Examination. "You know, I bragged about him. He wasn't perfect but he was my sweet Boy. When I get tangled in a mess, I call him first. And now, I have no one to call to tell that I passed my exams. I had straight As". This time Eva laughed. She laughed because he helped her study and now was not here to share in her good news. And it was sad at the same time. Was she going crazy in front of a Strange Man?"Nathan Blackwood""What?" Eva was confused. "That's my name". Wait did this Man just ignore all I said and just tell me his name that I didn't even ask for? What kind of arrogance is this!. Eva looked at him, maybe he had something more to say. But he didn't say anything. He leaned back in his chair. Ordered another bottle, poured a shot, drank it, and stared back at her. Now, she was interested in this Mysterious Man. He didn't offer her comfort or pity, just living in his world but still invading hers. She wanted to know more about him. Who he was and what made him come to the bar. "So you are not here because of a Heartbreak, why are you here Nathan?". The name rolled off her tongue sweetly. She loves the name. "The Bar I go to ran out of my Favourite drink. so I had to drive here to get it". So he came here just to have a drink not because of some emotional turmoil. What a boring man. Boring because he is not going through some emotional damage Eva, get a grip on yourself. "So you just came out to get a drink because it is your Favourite". Eva asked hoping to get more answers about the mysterious man right in front of her. "Yes". Just yes? Now Eva is getting pissed at this corner Man. How could she tell him about half of her life and she just gets a few lines? "You must not be a great talker, I guess". Eva tries again to get him talking. He drinks from his Cup and rolls up his sleeves. "I don't talk much when I drink, I like to conserve my energy for some heavy work later".Eva almost choked on her saliva. What did this Man just say? Wait, is he hitting on me?. "What kind of work" Eva asked shyly, it didn't seem like it was her usual self that asked, probably it was the drink. Normal Eva would have stood up and run away from this dangerous Man. But she found herself getting drawn to him. "The kind that makes you forget your Ex". Nathan deepened his gaze on her. Eva could have skipped some heartbeats. He made her stomach tingle without touching her. "And the kind of work that makes your legs ache". He smirked at her. This Man has some kind of ego. "How sure are you?". Eva rolled her eyes unbelievably. "Want to check out ". He asked her, raising one of his eyebrows. No, Eva had wanted to say but some part of her wants this Stranger in front of her. She feels she needs some healing from him. She needs him to cleanse every bit of her and make her a new person. She doesn't mind not being able to walk well the next day, she wanted him to take her to a level Daniel couldn't. "If we do this," he said quietly, "there is no pretending it didn't happen". I nodded. Of course, I knew. We were in front of the hotel room across the Bar. Don't ask me how we got here, but ask me if my legs ache in the morning. We got into the room, and it looked like a presidential suite. It is just for a night, he didn't have to go all for it. It is just for the night. I might not even remember any of it and my legs might not even feel sore not to mention aching.Nathan pulled me to himself. My hands wrapped around his neck.I didn't know walking into the hotel room with Nathan Blackwood would cost me everything.
