Chapter 1 - Arrival

Segmentum Obscurus, Cadia, Underhive.

A thick stench of excrement hit his nose. David had just woken up from a coma and was nearly knocked out again by the smell.

"Lord Bartholomew the III..." David rolled over and muttered subconsciously, "Did you mess the place up again?"

Lord Bartholomew the III was David's pet, a labrador that ate a lot and pooped twice.

The dog often made the house smell terrible, but after being threatened with David's slippers, it finally learned to use its designated spot and had improved significantly.

Pinching his nose, David shook his groggy head and looked around.

A tunnel stretched out in both directions, its ends lost in the darkness.

Rusty fuel drums were scattered throughout the tunnel, their surfaces riddled with bullet holes. A viscous, oily liquid leaked from the holes, and that was where the smell was coming from.

'Hold up, where in sam hell am I'

This... this wasn't his home!

David gave a start, his whole body trembling as his mind instantly snapped into focus.

'A dream? Kidnapped? Or isekai?'

Scrambling on all fours, David nimbly climbed to his feet and surveyed his surroundings.

An underground cave—wait, what was this?

David noticed a row of mosquito-sized icons at the bottom of his field of vision.

He squinted, focusing his gaze on the icons.

On the left were ten heart-shaped icons, and on the right were golden drumstick-shaped icons.

David swallowed the saliva that was rapidly secreting due to nervousness as a bold idea popped into his head.

If this really is Minecraft...or HYTALE?

'Inventory' David thought silently.

A virtual interface expanded before his eyes.

The inventory space consisted of four rows and nine columns. The bottom row was the Hotbar, totaling 36 slots.

On the left, a 3D image of David himself was displayed, with four Armor Slots beside it.

Seeing these familiar things, David finally felt a slight sense of security.

Had he arrived into the world of Minecraft? David looked at the cylindrical fuel drums scattered around and dismissed the idea.

Round things don't appear in Minecraft. It was more likely that he had transmigrated to another world with the Minecraft System.

Having gained some understanding of his current situation, David's mood relaxed somewhat.

Leaning against the wall, he began to explore his environment.

About 10 meters ahead, there was a corner emitting an orange glow.

The light illuminated the cave, allowing David to see everything clearly.

His curiosity piqued, David moved toward the light.

Squish, squish.

As he stepped past the fuel drums, the viscous liquid stuck to his soles, pulling into thin threads.

As he approached the light, David felt much warmer, and his cold body gradually relaxed.

David quickened his pace and finally reached the corner. Pressing his body against the stone wall, he peeked around and saw the scene before him.

A perfectly square wooden chest with four torches placed around it stood out, completely out of place in this dark and twisted environment.

Four torches and a wooden chest—this was a bonus starter chest!

As a pro, David usually disdained enabling bonus chests in survival mode, but now that he had actually transmigrated, he could only say it was a godsend.

Feeling a surge of joy, David hurried toward the chest and reached out to open it.

Rumble... An explosion suddenly sounded from above, as if something had crashed down.

The cave David was in shook, and dirt and stone chips fell from the rock ceiling.

David's hand froze. He hesitated for a moment, then immediately turned and pressed his ear against the stone wall.

A coarse, violent voice penetrated the rock layers, faintly booming:

"This is Cadia. To the vessel that landed without permission: state your intent!"

"Uuughhh..."

"Not good, it's Chaos! Fire! Everyone, open fire!"

Intense gunfire erupted, interspersed with explosions and unknown howls.

The symphony of battle came violently and ended abruptly. After a few more explosions, everything returned to silence, leaving only David's heart pounding wildly.

'Ca... Cadia?!'

'Abbadon dildo-ship rammed Cadia?! That CADIA?!'

Even if the name "Cadia" could have been a coincidence, David had heard the word "Chaos" loud and clear.

He has arrived in Warhammer, and specifically into the Fortress World of Cadia!

His head spun, and David felt the whole world rotating.

David stood silently in place for a long time.

Phew—

David let out a long breath, as if trying to squeeze all the fear and despair out of his lungs.

'Phew, calm down bro. It's just Cadia, no big deal.'

'It's just an infested hellhole with demons and cultists, and the planet is about to explode!'

'All is just peachy!'

Thinking about it like that makes it seem even worse...

David gave a bitter smile, trying his best to comfort himself, but his thoughts couldn't stop sliding toward despair.

His eyes darted around uncontrollably before finally fixing on the bonus chest.

'You're my saving grace, I just hope there's not wooden tools inside...'

...

Look on the bright side, at least I have this cheat code.

Like a starved man in the desert, David reached out and grabbed the bonus chest.

Even if this was some plot by a certain Blue-Know-Who, David would accept it. He was already at rock bottom; the only way was up.

"Creak—", the chest opened.

Two red apples and three loaves of bread were neatly arranged on the oak planks.

On the layer below was a stone axe, a wooden pickaxe, and three oak logs.

Some food and basic tools.

David picked up a loaf of bread. The soft texture felt real through its crust, and the rich aroma of wheat entered his nostrils, awakening his body's most primal desire.

In Warhammer, this was a rarity for ninety-nine percent of the population.

'Hopefully I have Steve's strength as well...'
