Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 5 : JOB VACANCY

"Tch. You probably have some resistance or something," the lady muttered. "I'm a first-class citizen. I don't have time for this"

"Wait," Juno interrupted. "You said it. In front of everyone. Your words mean nothing now? You lie easily, huh?"

The boyfriend stepped in, rubbing his temple. "Look, I'll pay for it, alright?" The boyfriend stepped forward, trying to save face. "Alright man, I'll pay for it. She was upset. Let's not make a scene."

But Juno didn't back down. "You're not the one who made the bet. Why are you paying? Or does she always need someone to clean up after her?"

The girl gritted her teeth. "I'm a first-class citizen! I don't have to—"

"Then act like one," he said, tapping the table lightly. "A first-class citizen keeps her word."

"Not yet," Juno grinned. He raised his hand. "Waiter! A bottle of your best wine, lobster, steak—no, two steaks—dessert, and three appetizers. Oh, and your most expensive whiskey."

The boyfriend paled as the waiter nodded.

They watched as the waiter brought over the bill. It was no ordinary amount—almost €4000, thanks to the extravagant spread of food and liquor he had ordered after the bet was sealed.

An hour later, the man's card was almost drained, the woman fuming, and Juno glurp with a full stomach and a smug grin.

The boyfriend reluctantly pulled out his card, face flushed. "It's fine. Let's just go."

The lady stormed off, heels clacking angrily across the marble floor.

As Juno rose, adjusting his sleek coat, a soft chuckle came from the far end of the room.

"You handled that with style," a voice said.

Juno turned to find a man in a well-tailored suit, middle-aged but sharp-eyed, stepping forward. "Mind if I sit?"

"You already are," Juno replied, sliding back into the seat. Juno raised an eyebrow. 'which fool will approach someone like this' "For what?" "What do you want?"

The man reached into his coat and handed him a card. "Liora Groupe — Events & Exhibition Suites"

"You've got presence, control, and confidence. We need someone like you. Manager's role. Flexible hours. Good pay. Manager. Exhibition suite. Not just any you'll be in charge of security and guest management for rare artifact viewings. High profile. Interested?"

Juno narrowed his eyes. "What makes you think I'm looking for work?"

"Someone with your skillset doesn't just pick pockets and stir up drama unless he's testing waters. You're new here, aren't you?"

Juno smirked. "Something like that."

"Think about it," the man said, rising. "The city remembers talent. I believe in second lives."

The man handed him a business card. Juno looked down at the glossy print and the golden logo.

He said nothing but pocketed it.

That night, he sat on the edge of a rooftop, staring at the moon above the city.

"Maybe this is how fate wants it," he muttered.

And by morning, Juno Mayflower had a job.
