Chapter 48 -  Cruelty (Part One)

Humm—!!!

Not only did Momochi Sakaki's expression freeze—

So did his Dance of Chaotic Burial.

The storm of cyan blade-light—fierce enough to shred a person into pieces—came to a complete standstill in that single instant.

It was as if time itself had been frozen.

The reason everything stopped—

Was because, at the very front of it all, a fist had halted there.

Calm.

Unhurried.

Yet in front of that fist, mirror-like cracks spread outward in every direction.

They were fractures formed by vibration force tearing through the air.

But the sight was so terrifying that it looked as though space itself had shattered.

Crack—!!

The sharp sound, like ice splintering, shattered the silence—

—and shattered Sakaki's frozen expression as well.

True terror finally appeared on his face.

"Damn it—!"

Facing such a horrifying blow from Yuya, Sakaki could only frantically pour all of his chakra into the Dance of Chaotic Burial, forcing it to clash head-on.

The two forces collided violently, grinding against one another.

Yet Sakaki's blade remained stuck—

one inch in front of Yuya's fist.

Unable to advance even the slightest bit.

Then—

Yuya's vibration force erupted completely, overwhelming everything.

The chakra and blade-light on Sakaki's sword twisted grotesquely, warping under the pressure.

The Dance of Chaotic Burial was powerful—

—but its attacks were scattered, spread across an area.

Its single-point destructive power didn't reach A-rank.

And its wide-area damage fell even further short.

At best, it was a reinforced high-tier B-rank technique.

And no matter how strong a B-rank technique became—

It could not withstand Yuya's full-powered Unrivaled Strength.

Crack—!!

At last—

Sakaki's Dance of Chaotic Burial was shattered head-on by Yuya's punch!

Even his sword failed to endure the clash between vibration force and blade technique—

—and snapped apart under the strain.

BOOM—!!!

The roaring vibration wave surged forward, completely engulfing Sakaki.

Even though he tried desperately to retreat at the final moment—

He could not escape the impact.

This vibration force was nothing like Yuya's earlier, simple shock strikes.

This was—

Vibration Release: Unrivaled Strength!

A fusion of Superhuman Strength and vibration force!

Even after obliterating the Dance of Chaotic Burial, it still carried residual power.

PFF—!!

The instant the technique was destroyed, Sakaki was struck by the remaining shockwave and sent flying.

Blood sprayed violently from his mouth.

This time, the damage was no longer superficial.

Sakaki was not a taijutsu specialist.

He was an assassin—

a precision-based killer who relied on technique, not durability.

His physical toughness was worse than that of an ordinary chūnin.

Previously, even when he avoided direct hits, he had still been injured.

Now—

He had taken the blow head-on.

He was completely crippled.

Though not dead, he had lost all ability to fight.

Blood continuously spilled from his lips as Sakaki clenched his teeth, enduring the agony coursing through his body, still trying to crawl away.

But Yuya would not give him that chance.

Even if Yuya did nothing, Sakaki wouldn't escape the ANBU's pursuit.

But—

This man had come to kill him.

For someone who tried to take his life, Yuya would show no mercy whatsoever.

Whoosh—!

Yuya flashed forward in an instant, catching up.

To keep him alive for interrogation, Yuya didn't use vibration force this time—

Instead, he swept out with a brutal kick.

Leaf Whirlwind!

BAM—!

Severely wounded, Sakaki couldn't dodge at all.

Yuya's kick struck him squarely.

Crack—crack—!!

The sound of bones snapping echoed as Sakaki was sent flying once more.

Blood sprayed from his mouth as he crashed into the distance.

He wasn't dead—

—but he could no longer even lift his head.

His eyes burned with disbelief and resentment.

He never imagined Yuya would be this strong.

Strong enough to shatter his ultimate technique head-on.

One wrong step—

—and everything fell apart.

Sakaki's hatred wasn't directed at Yuya.

It was directed at the one who had supplied him with information.

He wanted nothing more than to twist that person's head off and demand an explanation.

Was that idiot brain-dead?!

The intelligence error was so massive it bordered on insanity.

His mission briefing contained no record of Yuya killing Uchiha Han.

Clearly, that incident had been deliberately concealed by both Konoha and the Uchiha clan.

According to the information he received, Yuya was merely a talented child—

—not yet grown, possessing at most genin-level strength.

Right now, Sakaki desperately wanted to smash the words "genin-level" into the informer's face.

Yuya looked at Sakaki calmly and coldly.

He hadn't killed him immediately—

leaving a living captive for Konoha's interrogation would have been ideal.

But reality was cruel.

Knowing he would not survive, Sakaki subtly moved his mouth—

—and crushed a poison capsule hidden inside.

For an assassin, being captured alive meant a fate worse than death.

Seeing this, Yuya shook his head slightly, his gaze unreadable.

This was the shinobi world.

A cruel shinobi world.

Whoosh—!!

In the next instant, several masked ANBU operatives appeared in the distance, flashing forward until they reached Yuya's side.

Seeing Sakaki's corpse on the ground, they showed visible surprise.

"Already dead?"

"Looks like a shinobi from the Hidden Mist… though we can't rule out another village framing them."

"Take the body back for detailed examination."

The ANBU exchanged brief words.

Throughout the process, they didn't speak to Yuya—

—but the looks they gave him were filled with unconcealed astonishment.

An assassin infiltrating Konoha and successfully launching an attack was already unbelievable.

Even more unbelievable—

Yuya hadn't died.

Instead, he had killed the assassin outright.

Most shocking of all—

Yuya appeared to be completely uninjured.

Was this what a true genius looked like?!

The ANBU silently acknowledged that if they themselves had faced an assassination at Yuya's age—

—they would almost certainly have died.

Let alone achieving a flawless counter-kill.

After exchanging glances, one ANBU finally spoke to Yuya.

"Yuya, come with us. You'll need to give a full report."

"Alright."

Yuya nodded, his eyes sharpening with cold resolve.

Danzo? The Uchiha?

Who had interfered just enough to allow this assassin to strike?

There was no way to be certain.

In the end, Yuya took a slow, steady breath.

From now on, he would need to be even more cautious.

This world—

Was far more cruel and dark than he had imagined.
