Chapter 25 - continue our conversation 25

I teleported Demiurge with me to my room, the quiet atmosphere surrounding us as we continued our conversation.

The moment we arrived, I could see the curiosity in his eyes, waiting patiently for me to answer the questions he had been holding back. Choosing my words carefully, knowing that what I was about to reveal carried weight far beyond simple conversation.

Demiurge stood respectfully in front of me, but I could see the curiosity burning in his eyes. "My lord… I have been wondering about something since we arrived in this world."

I nodded slightly, signaling him to continue. "I wonder… why are some of the Supreme Beings no longer here to stand beside us, my lord?"

I took a slow breath before answering. "Because they were already fading long before we came here."

Demiurge's eyes narrowed slightly, "Fading…? My lord, do you mean they were slowly disappearing from existence?"

"Yes. Not destroyed in battle. Not erased by a single enemy. They were slowly consumed… by darkness." He remained silent, waiting patiently for me to continue. "But this darkness was not born from monsters or war. It was born from the very world we once lived in."

"The world itself…?" Demiurge eyes reflecting deep curiosity as he waited patiently for my answer.

I nodded slowly. "Yes. That world was already aging. Every world has a limit. Over time, its structure begins to weaken." I raised my hand slowly, and with a quiet surge of magic, a dark crack appeared in the space before us.

"Cracks formed in the foundation of reality itself. At first, they were invisible. But slowly, the damage spread. It affected life, environments, even the energy that sustained existence there."

Demiurge clenched his hand slightly, "So it was not only physical destruction…"

"Exactly. There was also psychological destruction." He remained silent, his gaze fixed on me as he listened carefully, not daring to interrupt.

I lowered my hand, dispelling the magic. "Power is a double-edged sword. All the Supreme Beings were extremely powerful. We could shape systems, control forces, change environments..." I paused, "But because of that power… many of them carried their burdens alone."

Demiurge spoke quietly. "Because they believed asking for help would weaken their image as Supreme Beings."

"Yes. Pride became their greatest weakness... In worlds where power decides status and respect, pride grows stronger alongside strength. The stronger someone becomes, the harder it is for them to admit fear or weakness."

Demiurge nodded slowly, his expression darkening slightly in understanding. "They feared disappointing each other… even though they faced the same fate."

"Some believed they could solve everything by themselves. Others did not want to burden their companions. And some simply refused to admit that even they were afraid of what was coming."

Demiurge lowered his gaze slightly, "So isolation became their true enemy."

"Yes. Without communication, without unity, and without trust… each of them was forced to face their struggles alone." I continued in a softer tone, my voice carrying a heavier sense of finality.

"One by one, they were swallowed by circumstances they could not control. Not because they were weak… but because even the strongest beings cannot stand forever against time, decay, and solitude."

Silence filled the room, "So… in the end, it was not a single battle that defeated the Supreme Beings?" Demiurge asked.

I nodded slowly. "Yes. Not through enemies on the battlefield… but through forces far beyond any war we could fight."

"Time, isolation, and pride… all of them became one silent force. And one by one, the Supreme Beings fell. They left behind only memories, legacies, and echoes of who they once were."

Demiurge speak quietly, slowly absorbing the weight of my words. "Then Ulbert-sama was also affected by that darkness…?"

"Yes." I turned slightly, remembering the past. "But he was different. He did not allow his pride to control him."

Demiurge's eyes widened slightly in understanding. "Because he wished to remain in Nazarick… with his creations."

"Exactly." I continued softly. "So he chose to ask for help."

Demiurge spoke slowly, almost in reverence. "And since you are the embodiment of the Void itself… you were able to resist and fight that darkness, for darkness itself cannot extinguish what is born from nothingness."

I gave a small nod. "Yes. But it was not an easy process. The treatment took a very long time. Darkness like that does not disappear quickly. Fortunately, Ulbert has now fully recovered. He only needs rest to fully regain his strength."

Demiurge's posture straightened slightly. "So that is why he is here today…"

"Yes. He is here because he survived the darkness."

Another moment of silence passed between us—not uncomfortable, but filled with quiet respect.

Demiurge spoke in reverence. "As expected of the Supreme Beings… even in darkness, their will is unbreakable."

------------

It seems Demiurge actually believed the little lie I made up. Thank goodness… my life is still long.

And of course. In truth, the real reason they rarely played the game anymore was a little less dramatic than what I had said earlier.

But hey, at least my story would ensured that no NPC would suddenly start writing emotional hate letters to their creators for 'abandoning them for real-life responsibilities'.

Ulbert's situation was actually not far from what I had described. He suffered from a medical condition that gradually made it difficult for him to use his legs. Fortunately, since we lived in the same apartment, I was able to take care of him and help with his treatment.

Over time, his symptoms naturally got better. He survived the operation, but he still felt easily exhausted afterward.

When YGGDRASIL was nearing its closure, I had to practically beg, persuade, and mildly emotionally blackmail Ulbert into logging in one last time so he could talk with Momonga for a final goodbye.

Either way, after enough convincing (and probably because he knew I wouldn't stop bothering him), he eventually agreed.

Hello everyone! Just a quick announcement — there will be a warning content in the upcoming future chapters.

Nothing too scary, just me politely preparing you mentally so you don't suddenly throw your device across the room in embarrassment.

I would rather not be responsible for any broken screens, emotional damage, or people dramatically gasping like they just witnessed a crime scene.

And if you are not into that kind of content, feel free to skip those chapter—your comfort is always more important than the story!

Okay, that's all.

Bye :>
