Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Ghost Hunt

The glow of three computer monitors illuminated Reyansh's face in the dark of his private study. It was 3:00 AM. In the next room, Myra was asleep, exhausted from the office drama. But Reyansh was wide awake, his eyes narrowed as he scrolled through a database that had no business being on a CEO's computer.

"Rohan Malhotra. Delhi. Surgeon," he muttered, his voice a low, dangerous rasp.

The search results were infuriating.

He clicked through profile after profile. Fifty-two. There were fifty-twoRohan Malhotras registered as medical professionals in the Delhi NCR region.

One was sixty years old—too old.

One was a pediatrician—not a surgeon.

One was currently working in London—impossible.

Reyansh slammed his glass of scotch onto the mahogany desk. He wasn't used to not having answers. He was the man who could track a billion-dollar transaction through six offshore accounts in minutes, yet he couldn't find one "kind and stable" doctor who had supposedly touched what belonged to him.

He pulled up a high-resolution photo of a thirty-year-old cardiac surgeon from AIIMS Delhi. The man was handsome, with a soft smile and a gentle gaze.

Is this him, Myra?" he whispered to the empty room, his grip tightening on his glass until his knuckles turned white. "Is this the one you think is better than me?"

A surge of pure, irrational jealousy flared in his chest. He imagined this man—this stable man—holding Myra, talking to her about her day, promising her a life that didn't involve contracts or secret offices

He picked up his phone and dialed his Head of Security, Khanna.

Sir? It's three in the morning," Khanna's groggy voice came through.

"I don't care if it's the end of the world," Reyansh snapped. "I'm sending you a list of fifty names. I want a full background check on every Rohan Malhotra in Delhi. I want their bank statements, their dating history, and their current location. If even one of them has been in Mumbai in the last forty-eight hours, I want him in front of me by tomorrow evening."

"Sir... is this for the merger?"

"This is for my peace of mind," Reyansh growled before hanging up.

He stood up and walked to the balcony, looking out at the city he ruled. He knew he was acting like a madman. He knew the "contract" said she was just a distraction. But as he thought about Myra's face when she spoke the name Rohan, he realized the distraction had become an obsession.

If this doctor existed, Reyansh would crush him. And if he didn't... he would make Myra pay for ever making him doubt his hold over her.
