Chapter 179 -  Chapter 178: Homeless Vagrant

After touring Willy Bruce's underground garage, Rey left him with fifty million pounds.

This money was more than enough to buy both properties and renovate them. Even for subsequent training equipment, firearms, ammunition, and so on, this amount should suffice.

With so much money, if invested properly, the Demon Hunter Squad should have absolutely no problem being self-sufficient.

Rey wasn't yet seventeen, so whether buying property or opening a bank account, there were issues. Therefore, all of this could only be handled by Willy Bruce.

After discussing more details, the two prepared to go out and meet the retired colonel with a story. However, just then, Willy Bruce's daughter suddenly spoke up and asked, "Dad, can I join you?"

The sudden question left Rey and Willy Bruce stunned on the spot.

The two looked at each other, neither knowing when Willy's daughter, Tina, had learned about their plans. After all, she hadn't been eavesdropping during their discussion just now.

"I saw the money."

Tina's eyes rolled, and she said with a hint of embarrassment.

"Hey, honey. We need to have a good talk about this," Willy Bruce clearly didn't want his daughter involved.

"I know what I'm saying, Dad. I know how I got better, and I know what kind of monster hurt me."

"Dad, I'm already involved. I can't be a good little girl who knows nothing."

Tina pleaded earnestly. Unexpectedly, although she had been in a coma, her perception of the outside world still existed.

"I majored in finance; I can invest this money reasonably."

Seeing her father still hesitating, Tina said directly to Rey, the young boy. Although the other party was a teenager, it was obvious that her father treated him like an old friend of the same age. Moreover, this money was left by Rey.

Rey looked at Willy Bruce, seeking his opinion.

Rey had no objection to letting Tina Bruce manage the funds. He trusted Willy Bruce, so naturally, he trusted his daughter too, but all this depended on Willy Bruce, the father's, intention.

Considering for a long while, looking at his daughter gazing at him with pleading eyes, Willy Bruce sighed and asked Rey beside him, "Is she okay?"

Rey was the person in charge; even if he agreed to his daughter's request, it required Rey's nod.

"Of course, no problem. Having someone manage the organization's funds is exactly what I wished for."

"Since you are willing, I'll give you another hundred million in funds. My suggestion is that you buy more stocks of Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Toyota..."

Rey smiled faintly. He was very rich now; this money was nothing.

He felt this money was nothing, but the hundred million pounds shocked the Bruce father and daughter. Especially Tina; after hearing Rey's words, she shouted in surprise and joy, immediately stepping forward to give him a hug.

"Sorry, excuse me, I was too excited."

After the hug, Tina immediately apologized. She wasn't a casual girl; it was just that the shock was too great. Giving so much money just like that made her curious about Rey's identity.

"It's okay. The first time I saw so much money, I was even worse than you."

Rey responded with a smile, recalling the first moment he jumped into the shipping container; he had been stunned for a long, long time before starting to pack the money.

---

"I didn't expect you to be so rich. And, thank you."

Willy Bruce drove while thanking Rey in the passenger seat. His meaning was simple: thanking Rey for trusting them, father and daughter.

"Don't be so polite. Didn't I tell you? In my previous life, I also had a daughter."

The two chatted idly in the car. Willy Bruce drove the car to the street with the most bars in London. Presumably, Philip August should be in one of the bars.

However, Rey guessed wrong on this point.

Willy Bruce stopped the car at the entrance of an alley next to a bar.

In the bustling bar street, there are always one or two deep alleys inhabited by many homeless vagrants.

Clearly, the colonel named Philip should be one of these vagrants. When Willy Bruce brought Rey here, Rey had already guessed.

Sure enough, after bypassing several "homes" made of cardboard boxes and other items by homeless people, the two saw a vagrant sitting under a wall from a distance: Philip August.

Philip August was a long-haired vagrant wearing thick clothes so dirty they were somewhat shiny.

At this moment, he was sitting with his head down in the corner, holding half a bottle of whiskey in his hand. When Rey and Willy walked up to him, he was lifting the whiskey and taking a big swig.

A mouthful of whiskey, and a third of it dripped down his beard.

With a gulp, he swallowed the whiskey and lowered his head again. As if sleeping, or perhaps awake, just looking down in a daze.

Such a person was completely different from the photo of him in military uniform. His current appearance didn't look thirty-five at all; if someone said he was forty-five, Rey would believe it.

In the vagrant area, fights were also common. Especially with a popular drink like whiskey, his drinking immediately attracted the attention of two nearby vagrants.

Thus, a robbery happened right in front of Rey and Willy Bruce.

Half a bottle of whiskey was the culprit that caused this robbery. Philip August struggled hard, but he was grabbed by the hair by the two vagrants and pinned to the ground. After a beating, he couldn't keep that half bottle of wine.

Rey glanced at Willy Bruce in surprise.

An SBS colonel was actually taken down by two vagrants with almost zero combat power, and taken down without resistance at that. It was indeed somewhat unexpected.

"He's not sober yet. Wait until you see him sober, and you'll know he's the most suitable."

Willy Bruce explained with a wry smile. At the same time, he and Rey walked up to Philip, who had just been beaten up.

"Hi, Colonel August, I'm Willy Bruce."

Willy Bruce walked up, squatted down, and said to Philip, who had climbed up and sat back in the corner.

Hearing someone speaking to him, Philip shook his somewhat dizzy head and pushed aside the dirty hair in front of his face: "It's you. Are you going to buy me a drink again? The bottle you bought yesterday was just snatched."

---

"You can drink anytime you want, Mr. August. Have you considered what we talked about yesterday?"

Willy Bruce was patient, speaking methodically, neither fast nor slow.

"Sure, as long as you can cover my room and board. And enough booze to fill me up, I can agree."

A surprising answer. Unexpectedly, the other party agreed so simply. This made even Willy Bruce stunned for a moment.

However, obviously, such an answer made both Rey and Bruce unsure if he said it while sober.

"Let's go, Bruce."

Rey called out, preparing to turn and leave. This Philip August sitting on the ground might have been a formidable soldier in the past, but now he was a useless person, and a useless person who only knew how to drink.

Without fighting spirit, without thoughts in his mind. No matter how formidable he was before, now he was just a living corpse. Even if others hit him with heavy fists, he would feel nothing; he was a weakling with absolutely no power to fight back.

Rey wasn't standing far away, and his words attracted Philip August's attention.

Looking up and glancing at Rey in front of him, Philip August on the ground suddenly asked, "You are the person in charge. You look like just a twelve or thirteen-year-old kid."

There was no disdain, only disappointment. Perhaps Philip, now a vagrant, hadn't expected that the person preparing to form a Demon Hunter Squad was just a child.

"You look older than thirty-five too, and a useless person at that."

Rey was also very disappointed and didn't hide his true thoughts.

"Hehe!"

Philip laughed nonchalantly, then continued, "As long as you can prove that vampires are real, I'll prove to you that I'm the person you want. And I can risk my life for you for free."

He spoke easily, as if joking, but there was no hint of joking in Philip August's eyes. It was just that the bruises on his face from the beating didn't match the look in his eyes at all.
