Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Covetous Hearts

Ōtsutsuki Kaguya's words weren't exactly direct.

But Minamikawa Yuu understood her meaning nonetheless.

If she were alone, she might have been tempted by this chakra fruit and unable to resist consuming it.

Although she belonged to the extraterrestrial Ōtsutsuki Clan, her status within the clan wasn't high, and under normal circumstances, it would be impossible for her to consume a chakra fruit.

Now that the opportunity was here, it would be a pity to miss it.

With her identity and bloodline, as long as she swallowed the fruit and awakened a pure Ōtsutsuki bloodline, she might even be able to stand a chance against the pursuers from the Otsutsuki Main Family when they eventually arrived.

There was still a chance of winning.

If all else failed, she could leave this place and simply run away.

But while she could do that, Minamikawa Yuu could not.

So in the end, she hesitated and did not consume the chakra fruit directly, choosing instead to seal it away.

After finishing all this, she caressed her abdomen, a rare trace of maternal affection appearing in her usually indifferent eyes.

There, two brand-new lives were gestating.

They were the children of her and Minamikawa Yuu, the most precious treasures in her life.

"Let's go."

Before her, Minamikawa Yuu spoke with a smile.

He took Kaguya's hand, and they slowly walked back the way they came.

On the path back, their figures gradually blurred and then vanished.

The years continued to pass.

Just as Minamikawa Yuu thought everything was going smoothly, a new change was occurring in the distant Bi Country.

Inside the palace of the Daimyo of the Country of Hi, the Daimyo of the Country of Hi held a folding fan, lost in thought as he looked at the letter in his hand.

"The Celestial Goddess, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya?"

Looking at the intelligence recorded in the letter, an interested expression appeared on his face: "Is there really such a thing?"

"A goddess from the heavens..."

"According to the rumors, that Goddess Kaguya has white hair and white eyes, and her appearance is quite beautiful."

Below the Daimyo of the Country of Hi, the Bi Country Minister Suzaku spoke respectfully: "I believe only Your Highness is worthy of such a goddess."

"Legend has it that the Daimyo of the Land of Ancestors went so far as to drive away all the women in his court for the sake of the goddess, favoring her alone."

"What a beautiful and moving woman she must be."

He spoke softly, sighing with emotion.

Hearing this, the Daimyo of the Country of Hi couldn't help but feel a stir in his heart.

In terms of status, the Daimyo of the Land of Ancestors was considered his son-in-law, being engaged to his daughter.

And he had heard things about this son-in-law.

He had heard that the man used to avoid women, devoting all his energy to governing the country, and would rather teach in a tea pavilion during his spare time than waste time on meaningless matters.

For even such a person to be so enamored with Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, she must be an incredibly beautiful and moving woman.

"If Your Highness is interested, why not have the Daimyo of the Land of Ancestors take the initiative to offer the goddess to you?"

Suzaku spoke earnestly: "After all, she is just a concubine; your daughter is the future wife of the Daimyo of the Land of Ancestors."

The Daimyo of the Country of Hi was somewhat tempted, but after thinking for a moment, he shook his head: "I'm afraid it won't be that easy."

"As long as Your Highness is willing, how about leaving everything to me?"

Suzaku's face was respectful: "As long as Your Highness is willing, I will surely bring you a satisfactory result."

"In that case, I'll leave everything to you."

The Daimyo of the Country of Hi finally nodded.

From this moment on, the gears of fate began to turn.

A month later, on a certain night.

Minamikawa Yuu sat in his tent, handling affairs.

This had become a habit of his.

Because of the Chakra, his body was much stronger than that of ordinary people, so he required very little sleep.

Aside from the time he spent accompanying Kaguya, he used almost all of his free time to get work done.

"Is Kaguya asleep already?"

Looking at the maid nearby, he asked.

"The Madam is already asleep."

The maid before him spoke respectfully: "She has been for a while now."

"Good."

Minamikawa Yuu nodded: "Remember to remind me when she wakes up."

"Yes."

The maid nodded, and looking at Minamikawa Yuu's handsome face, she couldn't help but feel a sense of envy.

In the eyes of the world, Minamikawa Yuu's doting on Kaguya was extraordinary.

As the Daimyo, he not only cared for Kaguya in every possible way but was also willing to accompany her at all times, satisfying her every request as much as possible.

Previously, just because Lady Kaguya liked a certain type of flower, Minamikawa Yuu ordered the existing garden to be cleared and those flowers to be planted throughout the entire palace.

To ensure Lady Kaguya's comfort, the Daimyo, who had been very stingy and frugal with himself in the past, spent a massive amount of wealth to build the brand-new Kaguya Palace for her to live in.

Because of this, rumors outside were rampant, and many elder ministers had strong opinions about it.

But these rumors and slanders were all personally resolved and suppressed by Minamikawa Yuu in the end.

No matter how turbulent the rumors outside were, he didn't let them reach the court, lest they sour Lady Kaguya's mood.

What was even more rare was that this Daimyo had avoided women in the past, and now he only had Lady Kaguya; rumors said he didn't even have a single maid for bed-service.

Such behavior would be extremely rare even for an ordinary person, let alone for a Daimyo.

The maid felt envious in her heart, but she didn't dare say much in his presence, quietly leaving to wait at Lady Kaguya's palace.

Time passed slowly.

After handling some of the affairs, Minamikawa Yuu was about to rest for a while.

"Is Kaguya not awake yet?"

He asked the attendant beside him, but then suddenly realized something was wrong.

In the distance, plumes of smoke rose into the sky, accompanied by streaks of firelight.

That was... "It's the direction of Kaguya Palace..."

Minamikawa Yuu's gaze instantly turned sharp.

At this moment, his instinct told him that something had happened outside.

Inside the vast and magnificent Kaguya Palace.

When Kaguya opened her eyes, her vision was already covered by a blaze of fire.

She was stunned for a moment and instinctively turned around, wanting to find a certain figure.

"Madam!"

The maid before her had an anxious face: "There's a fire outside!"

"We have to leave quickly!"

She pulled Kaguya up, wanting to lead her away.

However, at that moment, shouts and sounds of killing suddenly came from outside.

A group of samurai suddenly appeared there.

They looked at Kaguya, their eyes shining, and charged straight at her.

At this moment, the retainers responsible for protecting Kaguya had a bad premonition.

"It's the samurai of the Bi Country!"

"How can this be?"

The guards looked shocked, but they quickly reacted and began to resist with all their might.

Carrying Kaguya, they slowly retreated, preparing to leave the area.

During this process, the samurai and guards responsible for protecting Kaguya fought all the way, trying to ensure the Madam's safety.

Unfortunately, because of the lack of time, the resistance they organized was too weak, and their combat power was far inferior to that of the well-prepared Bi Country samurai.
