Chapter 2 - 1|■Werewolves always have their eyes on the moon

Like an addict, I stand on the balcony, taking a breath as if I would die if I didn't smell this scent! And it's not just any scent—it's the smell of rain and earth. I've been addicted to it since I was little, and it has become my natural favorite fragrance.

My eyes wandered around me— the forest trees ahead, the swamps, and the moon hidden behind clouds, yet we always know where it is; werewolves always have their eyes on the moon.

The special thing about our house is that it's on the edge of the forest; far from the city noise where there is calm.

The darkness of the night is lit by some lights from our pack, the "Rilak Pack." Our pack is classified third in strength, reach, and security, and that's enough for me—my family and my pack are safe.

I sat on my simple balcony chair overlooking the forest, with my laptop in front of me, from which the voice of the audiobook reader echoed. I usually don't like audiobooks; I prefer reading, but the view here is tempting and doesn't let me take my eyes off it—I just settle with the view and the intoxicating scent.

I now know that every winter feels like the first time I meet it and live its atmosphere. It's four in the morning, wrapped inside my blanket; the weather is deadly cold. If my parents saw me, they would kill me.

Thinking about this, I must be ready for high school at five. I have to prepare and must not get sick from the rain or a strong cold breeze, but I can say I've adapted and loved it; my body no longer rejects it… I hope.

The sun is about to rise while I'm still listening to the audiobook, my eyes fixed on my beautiful forest. I grimaced in disgust at the bloody story I'm listening to; it tells of a tragedy among criminals, narrated in detail by a detective, which increased my attention and nausea.

My alarm rang.

It's five o'clock; I straightened my lazy trunk. I have to get ready to go to high school. I'm nervous; it's our first day after a two-month vacation, and I'm a little excited because I have changed since my last day in high school when I was sixteen, weighing seventy-two kilos, and now I'm fifty-five—I lost eighteen kilos.

I took great care of my health thanks to my father, who cares a lot about his health and physical fitness. I was influenced by him and supported, and we started exercising every morning and evening. His workouts were truly death, but look, I'm slim now!

As for my mother; well, she used to say, "Fat or thin, just enjoy your life and let the world go to hell." She was right, but my father says, "Good health—enjoy it and let the world go to hell."

I love them.

My mother's name is Adil, a half-human, half-werewolf with long chestnut hair and honey-colored eyes. My father, Dylan, is a werewolf and a high-ranking army commander with a strong personality, sharp features, jet-black hair, and piercing black eyes. She was never harsh on me; she has always been gentle.

Fate wrote that they would be companions and that they would give birth to me, their eldest daughter, Astella Dylan
