Chapter 24 - Another Day, An Unexpected Visitor

After a while, we sold every single item.

We packed the cloth we had used to display the products and loaded everything back onto the cart. Hasami took the reins and began driving us back toward the inn.

We were exhausted—especially Roberto.

As the cart rolled along the dusty road, Roberto straightened himself slightly and began reporting in a calm, professional tone.

"Lloid," he said calmly, "today's market results are _"

"Bordeaux Mixture — twenty-five sold at five bronze each. Total: one hundred twenty-five bronze."

"Pyrethrum Powder — twenty-five at four bronze. Total: one hundred bronze."

"Nicotine Spray — twenty-five at six bronze. Total: one hundred fifty."

"Lime Sulfur Spray — twenty-five at five bronze. One hundred twenty-five."

"Manual Pump Sprayer — twenty-five at eight bronze. Two hundred."

"Compost System — twenty-five at seven bronze. One hundred seventy-five."

"Legume Rotation Guide — twenty-five at five bronze. One hundred twenty-five."

"Seed Selection Kit — twenty-five at six bronze. One hundred fifty."

"Mulching Materials — twenty-five at four bronze. One hundred."

"Bone Meal — twenty-five at three bronze. Seventy-five.".

"Total market earnings… one thousand four hundred five bronze. That equals one hundred forty silver and five bronze."

Then he handed me the pouch of coins.

Most of it was in bronze.

Without hesitation, I gave each of them six silver coins.

Immediately, everyone hesitated.

Hasami spoke first, her tone serious.

"Lloid… you paid us a huge amount yesterday. We didn't even work that much to earn it. And today you're giving us this much again…"

Roberto looked at me firmly.

"Lloid. The amount you paid yesterday was more money than most of them have ever seen in their lives. It was already more than enough."

They all looked at me with small smiles and nodded.

I smiled back—but my voice turned serious.

"You all forgot something."

They looked at me.

"We are a family. We are running our family business together. In a family, everything is shared."

I looked at each of them.

"And the amount I'm giving you is too little in my opinion."

After some more arguments… they finally accepted it.

I sighed internally, rubbing my forehead.

They're kind… but so stubborn.

After distributing the coins, one hundred ten silver and five bronze remained in my hands. Since most coins were bronze, I stored everything carefully inside my item bag.

It was a good harvest.

We reached the inn and got off the cart.

Arim and Mac tied the horse to a tree and fed it. The four of us went inside and sat at the dining table.

Moneru dropped her head onto the table with her arms stretched out.

Roberto and I leaned back in our chairs.

Hasami sat upright for a moment.

Then Miss Liza walked in.

"Oh my… you guys are back. How was the selling today?"

Hearing her, Roberto immediately sat straight and replied gently,

"Miss Liza, your best wishes were with us. So we sold all the products today as well."

We all stared at him strangely.

Miss Liza smiled—slightly blushing.

Arim and Mac came inside and leaned back in their chairs.

"You boys look exhausted," she said. "Let me bring water for you."

She went toward the kitchen.

Arim sighed.

"Controlling a horse is not easy…"

Mac nodded weakly. "Yeah…"

Moneru lifted her head.

"You two are too weak."

Arim shot up angrily.

"Ha? Have you ever done it, old hag?!"

Moneru stood up too.

"Who are you calling old hag?!"

They pressed their foreheads together, glaring at each other.

Everyone burst out laughing.

Hasami stepped in and stopped them.

Just then Miss Liza returned with two glasses of water and placed them on the table.

Mac reached for one—

But Moneru quickly snatched it and drank angrily.

Arim grabbed the other and gulped it down.

Mac was left staring at the empty table.

Miss Liza blinked.

"Did something happen here…?"

Roberto smiled gently.

"They were only playing, my lady."

Miss Liza blushed.

"But… Mac wanted water too. Let me get it for you."

Hasami smiled.

"Oh Aunt Liza, I'll get it."

Miss Liza shook her head warmly.

"No, I will be serving lunch too. You sit."

Hasami stood anyway.

"Then let me help you."

Roberto stood as well.

"I will join you to help, Miss Liza."

We exchanged looks as the two of them walked into the kitchen.

After lunch and some light conversation, we returned to our rooms.

Before evening, Liza called out loudly,

"Marlin is here!"

Mac and Arim rushed downstairs first.

Arim smiled brightly.

"Hey Marlin! Why didn't you come earlier?"

Marlin smiled shyly.

"Sorry. We were busy in the fields. Even today Father and Mother couldn't come because of the workload. They sent me instead."

We all came downstairs.

Hasami looked worried.

"Oh my… we were thinking of visiting your home today since you hadn't come."

Marlin handed some fruits to Hasami.

Hasami smiled.

"Let's visit Mr. and Mrs. Guor in the field."

"Let's go," everyone said—including me.

Hasami asked gently,

"Marlin, could you show us the way?"

Marlin nodded.

"They'll be happy to see you."

Mac grinned.

"Let me prepare the cart for you, Marlin."

Arim smirked.

"I'll prepare it. Without my help, Mac can't do anything."

Before they could leave, Hasami spoke.

"Let's go on foot. We can enjoy the environment."

"Okay," Roberto and Moneru agreed.

We walked together—even Miss Liza joined us.

We visited the Guor family in the field and talked for a while. Before leaving, I told them to visit us tomorrow morning.

Then we stopped by the market with Marlin, met some new people, and greeted familiar faces. Many recognized us from today's sales.

We had some sweets and a small evening meal.

After nightfall, we returned to the inn, chatting cheerfully.

But when we reached the door—

Three figures were standing there.

As we got closer, Miss Liza suddenly gasped.

"Oh… Village Chief. What are you doing here?"
