The combination was worse than either trait alone.

Memory Retention let me remember all of them.

Together they felt like cheating at a game I hadn't known was being played.

Monday morning. Team meeting.

I walked in five minutes late. Not deliberately. Traffic.

I sat down.

The meeting continued.

Thirty minutes later, we wrapped up.

That was worse.

The system wasn't saying I was becoming like Lucian because I was making bad choices.

It was saying my traits were literally pushing my thinking in that direction. Making optimization feel natural. Making strategy feel like the obvious answer.

"How do I stop it?"

"Yeah." Pause. "Are you okay? You sound off."

I made myself not analyze it.

"Just processing some things."

"The trait?"

"Yeah. It's... more than I expected."

"More powerful?"

"More complicated."

"She's right."

She hung up.

I sat there.

Thinking about efficiency.

Together, they should have helped me make better choices.
