Elena's POV
"Are you okay ma'am?" Juniper asked as I walked in.
I slipped the phone into my pocket, my pulse racing. "Yes," I managed, fighting to keep my voice even.
I sat down on the bed, scanning the message once more.
Vicky was alive. The realization flooded me with both relief and terror.
I wanted to shout with joy, but I didn't know where to start.
"Ma'am?" Juniper's voice snapped me back to reality. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Heat crept up my neck, my insides churning. "Yes, yes. Is Oliver okay?"
"Yes, he's napping on the couch," Juniper pointed behind her. "You look... stressed."
Moisture gathered on my forehead and I brushed it away with my hand. "I'm fine. Just got an unexpected message."
"Okay, want to talk about it?"
My stomach plummeted. "No, I'm fine." I managed a smile. "Thank you."
Juniper paused before shrugging. "Alright ma'am."
"Thanks," I said quietly.
