Dorian's POV
I watched Elena freeze at the entrance, her cheeks flushed pink.
"I don't think..." she started, then bit back her words.
Something protective stirred in my chest. Lexie had spooked her, and that pissed me off more than it should have.
"I just want to get you out of here," I said, my voice softer than usual as I held the door open. "Before she shows up."
Her eyes went wide, but she didn't move.
Damn Lexie. I couldn't believe her crazy had rattled another woman.
Right on cue, Lexie burst outside with Kenzie trailing behind like a lost puppy.
"You can't take her, baby," Lexie said, flashing that fake smile she wore when she was lying through her teeth.
My jaw tightened. "I can't believe you right now."
She stepped closer, hands reaching for me. I shot her a look that made her drop them fast. "Dorian, baby. It's for our own good."
I ignored her, guiding Elena toward the car. "Back off, Lexie," I said, ice in my voice.
I slid in after Elena before she could bolt.
