Chapter 12 - The Lesson Begins

After the calm and delightful day that Hirata and Haruto had, They both return home and rest before meeting their teacher the following day.

Before both Hirata and Haruto sleep...

Hirata sets his bed and lies down and covers himself under his blanket– he talks to himself (a soliloquy).

Hirata says to himself "I am actually looking forward to tomorrow's lesson, can't wait to see what I am capable of, as well as Haruto."

Then the view shifts to Haruto lying down under his blanket and talking to himself (a soliloquy).

Haruto says to himself "So, I do have powers after all... maybe I was vaguely aware all along but I refused to believe it– or rather I chose not to give this matter any attention because I refused to even acknowledge the fact."

Haruto "That knife... was that really me? On the bright side that bastard old man deserved it!"

Then both Hirata and Haruto fall asleep...

August 18th– 10am;

Hirata and Haruto wake up, yawn and get up from their beds– they go to the bathroom; wash their faces and brush their teeth.

Then they dress up and take a taxi to a certain mountainous place which is unknown even to the locals– assigned by Amaru.

Then Hirata and Haruto leave the taxi and wait for him to get far enough for Hirata and Haruto to not raise suspicion while they step away from the highway.

Hirata says "Seems like it is far enough enough, let's go."

Haruto says "You are right, we cannot afford to be seen or exposed, let's ask Amaru about this once we meet him."

Hirata "Yes, I totally think the same!"

Then they walk in the woods searching for the point of rendezvous. After a few minutes of walking they find the location; it was an open space surrounded by a thick forest of insanely big mangrove trees.

Hirata says "Okay... this seems to be the place but I do not see Amaru sensei."

Amaru replies and scares off Hirata "I am here, you know."

Hirata and Haruto get freaked out then they shout Amaru's name out of disappointment.

Amaru responds "I am truly so sorry, I did not mean to scare both of you."

Hirata "please make your greetings more considerate please, Sensei."

Amaru "So, shall we begin with today's lesson?"

Hirata and Haruto shout responding to Amaru "AYE SIR!"

Amaru "Today's lesson will actually be useful, even in your daily lives! As long as you keep your powers within boundaries of course."

Haruto "Amaru, speaking of boundaries– I and Hirata have a question to ask you."

Amaru "Sure, go ahead "

Haruto "We want to keep our powers a secret, I believe no one should ever know about what we possess, it will trigger a lot of reactions– ranging from absolute panic to madness and Curiosity. We do not want to deal with anything regarding strangers. My question is; is it actually possible for us to not make anyone notice our powers? Or rather feel the energy coming from us? The aura or whatever you call it."

Hirata "Energy? Aura? What do you mean?"

Haruto "Oh, I have not told you this part yet I guess, Hirata."

Amaru "Good question, Haruto Okabe."

Amaru Continues "The answer is it is possible 100% but not in the way you think– also the energy Hirata Alex possesses is called Linguistic Energy and the energy that Haruto Okabe possesses is called Ritual Energy, since you possess the power from the Branch of Ritual."

Haruto "I see, thank you sensei."

Amaru adds "Hirata Alex, the aura or energy that Haruto is talking about; it is the physical form of one's energy that surrounds the user or possesor, and it can be sensed by the Branches of Language and Ritual."

Hirata "Thanks Amaru Sensei."

Amaru "Regarding how you hide your energy's presences, you should rather call it concealment– you conceal your presence, and actually The Branch of Action of Form (Ritual) is the one of the two Branches that can do that."

Hirata " concealment? What is the other Branch that allows this technique?"

Amaru "The Branch of Silence..."

Hirata and Haruto "The Branch of Silence?"

Hirata to Haruto "This is the Branch that you told me about."

Amaru "I shall tell you about this Branch, though very briefly, try to stay focused since this one is complicated."

Hirata and Haruto "Understood "

Amaru "The Branch of Silence– The Absence of Form– actually no one inherits this one Branch from birth naturally unless some very very rare and specific conditions are met.

Hirata "I wonder what these conditions are..."

Amaru "I will give you this lesson later, since this is a complicated matter and this information is dangerous if you still can't use your powers properly."

Hirata "I see."

Amaru says "Now Hirata Alex, I will start with you– let's start with the basics; last time I saw you using Early Modern English in the woods, you were testing your powers. You should thank Haruto Okabe for that piece of advice he had given you."

Haruto "Advice?"

Amaru "to start with the safest option; Early Modern English– it is not powerful enough to be used for combat, in fact it can be used for daily life tasks."

Hirata "Wow! That sounds very interesting! Can I try it?"

Amaru "Of course you will, but first we have to take a simple test to determine the amount of Linguistic Energy you possess."

Hirata "A test? How do I take this test?"

Amaru pulls out a pen, not from his pocket. He quite literally thrusts his hand through the fabric of reality itself; a small fissure materializes in the world, and as Amaru inserts his hands into that fracture, he withdraws his pen.

Hirata in a subdued and a genuine tone of astonishment "This feeling, Amaru's aura feels familiar– it is like that day at the restaurant."

Hirata remember that feeling when he felt two presences clashing when he was in the restaurant with Vanessa and Haruto on August 8th.

Amaru "Hirata Alex, so you noticed, huh?"

Hirata "Noticed? Well... to be honest with you yes– I felt your aura from a distance a while ago, and I could feel you were fighting someone."

Amaru "I see, your sensory abilities..."

Amaru's hands are still in the world fracture as he was speaking with Hirata...

Amaru "As I said, everything will be explained to you, now let's calibrate your Linguistics Energy."

Then Amaru pulls out a yellow stone, upon which runes bearing Old English Inscriptions are engraved in a vivid blue hue.

The Old English Inscriptions say "Mǣgen spreceð sōþ." Which translates to "Power speaks truth." In Late Modern English.
