Ravyn had called Alpha Voren earlier, but the call had gone unanswered which was never a good sign. Voren was rarely unavailable unless he was buried under negotiations or boardroom warfare.
Still, when Voren finally arrived, it was at precisely the right moment, and the timing alone eased some of the tension coiled in Ravyn's chest.
Voren paused at the threshold of the office, one brow lifting as he took in the scene. Seraphine sat in front of Ravyn, near the desk, heels sharp against the marble floor, her posture unyielding. Ravyn remained behind the desk, jaw tight.
"Am I interrupting something?" Voren asked coolly, already half-turned as if prepared to leave.
Ravyn lifted a hand, beckoning him in. "No. You're right on time."
Voren stepped inside, the door closing softly behind him. He had seen Ravyn's missed calls earlier but had been locked in consecutive meetings.
