Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Chapter 4

On the same day we arrived home, I spotted my little sister, Kiara, waiting in the living room, grumbling about our tardiness. Clara chimed in, suggesting Kiara head to bed, explaining, "Your sister is quite drunk right now; you can go to sleep, and I'll look after her."

With a smile, Kiara headed off to bed, asking Clara, "Could you please stay with my sister tonight? She's really out of it. Just for tonight, and you can leave in the morning." I couldn't help but think this was one of Kiara's clever plans to bring us together, but my head was spinning from the drinks.

Clara agreed, "Alright, no problem." As Kiara settled into the guest room, she smiled, leaving Clara and me alone in the same room.I hurried into my room, and Clara followed closely behind to help me out, as I was clearly quite drunk. She'd had a bit to drink too, but she handled it better; this wasn't her first rodeo, while it was mine. Once inside, in my tipsy state, I shed my clothes until I was left in just my bra and pants. Clara quickly shut her eyes upon seeing me half-naked and said, "Mabel, you should have told me to step out."

I shrugged it off, replying, "Aren't we best friends? We're just girls; it's not a big deal." Then, playfully, I moved closer to her, teasing, "Or maybe you have feelings for me?"

"Are you drunk? What are you even saying?" she replied, while I was looking into her eyes, suddenly she was shy. I wasn't shy at all, my confidence boosted by the alcohol. Clara admitted that seeing me like this was stirring something in her, and the tension between us grew thick. Before we knew it, we were kissing passionately, as if it was our first time. I could feel her lips biting mine in a way that was both thrilling and tender.

In that moment, I confessed my feelings, telling her I loved her and that I'd been feeling this way for a while. To my surprise, she revealed she'd had feelings for me since the very first day we met. She had worked hard to become my best friend, never imagining I could fall for her too.

I felt a bit foolish, realising I'd held back because I thought a girl from a wealthy family would never be interested in someone like me, from a middle-class background. But then, she leaned in again, kissing me and touching me so romantically that I found myself softly murmuring her name.

After we shared an intimate moment, I drifted off to sleep, with Clara snuggled beside me, our bodies intertwined, both of us feeling a warmth that promised new beginnings.

The following day, I woke up to find Clara and me lying closely together, both of us exposed. I let out a scream that jolted Clara awake, and she immediately asked what was wrong. I couldn't bring myself to answer; I felt so shy that I couldn't even meet her gaze. After a moment, I checked myself and realised something significant had happened. Overwhelmed by shyness, I grabbed the duvet and dashed to the bathroom, trying to piece together the events of the previous night. Slowly, memories surfaced, and I thought, "Wow, was this all a dream?"

Once I changed, I noticed Clara getting ready too. As I stepped back into the room, she playfully pulled me onto her lap. I instinctively tried to get up, but she asked why I was acting shy, reminding me that after what had happened the day before, there was no reason to be. Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked her what had happened. So I have to pretend I feigned ignorance, claiming I couldn't remember. She insisted I recalled everything, even as I stayed seated on her lap.

She encouraged me to remember, and I finally admitted I was just playing along. Her face lit up with joy, and I couldn't help but gaze into her eyes and ask, "Do you love me?" She replied with a heartfelt "yes," and I added, "Please don't cheat on me. This is my first relationship; I don't want my heart broken." Clara promised she loved me deeply and would do anything for me. She revealed that her feelings for me had been love at first sight, and that's why she'd tried so hard to be my best friend.

When she asked if I loved her, I nodded, admitting I felt a twinge of jealousy when I saw her with others. Clara was taken aback, saying, "Wow, who would have thought you could fall for me ?" I chuckled, agreeing that it was surprising, especially since I was sitting on her lap. She leaned in and kissed me passionately, playfully biting my lips and touching me tenderly.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a call from her mum, and at the same moment, my phone rang—my younger sister was calling. We initially ignored the calls, lost in each other's embrace, but after another ring, we reluctantly pulled away to answer. For about five minutes, we chatted, and when the call ended, I turned to Clara, exclaiming, "What should we do? I'm sure your mum talked about the same thing!"

I felt anxious for her, but Clara seemed unfazed and wanted to continue kissing. I urged her to stop, reminding her that this was serious. She explained that her mum was upset about our relationship being all over social media and wanted to see her immediately. Meanwhile, my sister was thrilled about our newfound fame, telling me how we were trending online. She mentioned that pictures of us holding hands at the club had surfaced, and everyone was calling me her new girlfriend . I couldn't help but worry about how Clara's mum would react, wondering why Clara seemed so calm about it all.
