But Danzo didn't waste time screaming. He kicked Itachi in the chest, trying to take the eye back—but the Itachi who was kicked in the air dispersed into multiple crows.

Seeing this, Danzo became furious and looked around for Itachi. He did find him—but unfortunately, Danzo ended up looking directly into Itachi's eyes.

Danzo was immediately immobilized. Previously, Danzo had a Sharingan in his eye, which gave him extremely high resistance to genjutsu. That was why he had been able to sense and break Itachi's illusions so quickly.
But now, with the absence of the Sharingan, Danzo was instantly paralyzed.

He also couldn't perform his final jutsu, the Reverse Tetragram Sealing, to die along with Itachi.
Itachi didn't keep Danzo alive to listen to his threats or meaningless words. He placed one hand on Danzo's head.
Seeing this, Danzo panicked—but then smiled sinisterly. Of course, all of this happened only in Danzo's mind, as he couldn't move his facial muscles to smile.
As Itachi searched for Danzo's memories, he discovered that Danzo's entire mind was sealed. If anyone tried to break the seal or forcibly read his memories, Danzo would die instantly and his mind would be destroyed.
But Itachi didn't care. Homura had a similar seal on his memories—or rather, every high-level ninja had such seals to prevent classified village information and secret ninjutsu from spreading.
ANBU members also had similar seals, but even more restrictive, to the point that they couldn't even speak classified information.
However, such seals couldn't stop Itachi. With his EX-level Fūinjutsu, safely reading Danzo's memories was child's play.
