Chapter 6 - Elections

The morning sun streamed through the windows of Tengen High, casting long beams across the classroom. Students were buzzing, talking in small groups, speculating on who would take which positions in the class election. Today was important; the elected officers would shape the year and lead the class activities.

Hiko Shinoegami sat near the window, glancing at the bustling students while fiddling with his phone. He typed quickly, checking his messages and the magic points balance on his student profile. He had just received his grade for the first exam.

Hiko: "Yes… 80 out of 80. Perfect score." He smiled, his fingers dancing across the screen. He tapped a few more buttons and spent 100 Magic Points to buy a soda and a bag of chips from the school vending system. A small pop-up on his screen reminded him that every point in a graded task equals 50 Magic Points, and this system only applied inside the school.

While sipping his soda, Hiko texted his parents.

Hiko: "Hi Mom and Dad! I did really well today! I got 80 out of 80 on the first exam!"

A few moments later, his phone buzzed with replies.

Mom: "Hiko! That's amazing! We're so proud of you! ❤️"

Dad: "Perfect score? That's my child! Keep showing your strength! Love you! 💖"

Hiko's heart swelled with pride and happiness. He typed back a quick thanks before turning his attention to the classroom.

The teacher, Rougen Ray, cleared his throat. "Today, we will elect class officers: President, Vice President, and Secretary. The positions are important for the smooth operation of the class, so choose carefully."

Students murmured. Some whispered strategies, others made quick notes of their preferred candidates.

Hiko noticed Goru Oraso talking to a group near the back.

Goru: "Alright, if everyone trusts me, I'll do my best as Vice President. We'll keep things organized and fair."

Hinata Kiyomi, standing beside him, nodded confidently.

Hinata: "And I'll serve as Secretary. I'll make sure notes, messages, and schedules are clear and accessible."

Several students exchanged impressed glances. Then came the announcement of the president candidate.

Rougen: "The candidates for class president are… Aren Valis and two others. Cast your votes carefully."

Aren Valis stood tall and confident. His presence commanded attention, and many students whispered among themselves, convinced he would win.

Voting began. Each student approached the front, signed their name on the digital voting tablet, and tapped their choice. Hiko watched, sipping his soda, as his classmates lined up. He realized this was a great chance to interact with more students.

He leaned over to a nearby student.

Hiko: "Hey, I'm Hiko. You're new, right?"

New Student: "Yeah, I'm Taro. Just transferred. It's all a bit overwhelming."

Hiko: "I get it. Don't worry, the class is intense, but you'll manage. Here, want a chip?" He offered the bag from his snack purchase.

Taro smiled, taking a chip. "Thanks, Hiko. That's really kind of you."

Across the room, more conversations sparked. Hiko chatted with Emi Valens about her favorite magic techniques, with Riku Hoshino about past exam strategies, and even Lena Rossi about her plans for mastering hybrid spells. Each interaction was short but meaningful, building connections that would last.

Finally, the votes were tallied. Rougen stepped forward.

Rougen: "The results are in. For class president, Aren Valis has been elected. For vice president, Goru Oraso. And for secretary, Hinata Kiyomi. Congratulations to all."

The room erupted into applause. Aren Valis smiled broadly, bowing slightly to the class. Goru raised his fist triumphantly.

Goru: "Thanks, everyone! That's my cue to work hard for all of you!"

Hinata Kiyomi: "I'll do my best too! Everyone, count on me!"

Hiko clapped quietly, watching his friends take their roles. He felt a sense of belonging, realizing that these were people he could rely on—and who could rely on him.

Once the excitement settled, Hiko pulled out his phone again. He checked his remaining Magic Points and updated his parents.

Hiko: "Also, I spent 100 Magic Points for snacks. Don't worry, I have plenty left. Everything's fine here."

Mom: "Good boy! Keep having fun but stay safe! ❤️"

Dad: "Proud of you! Remember, the best magic is in your heart. 💖"

Hiko smiled, finishing his soda, and placed the bag of chips on his desk. The day continued with students settling into discussions, planning club activities, and organizing schedules under the new class officers. Hiko felt a growing excitement for the year ahead, surrounded by friends, allies, and a supportive environment.

As the sun moved higher in the sky, Hiko realized that school wasn't just about exams or magic power—it was about connection, teamwork, and the small moments that made the day memorable. He looked at Goru, Hinata, Aren, and the other classmates he had begun to know, and felt a deep sense of belonging.

The first election was over, but Hiko knew this was just the start of countless adventures, challenges, and victories at Tengen High. And he was ready for all of it, one step at a time, with his friends beside him.
