Chapter 70 - Chapter 70

Chapter 70 Jiraiya Returns to the Village As soon

as the Third Hokage finished speaking, Kakashi rejected the suggestion without hesitation: "Forget it, Third Hokage. Let White Fang and my father enjoy the rituals peacefully at the family shrine."

Silence fell again in the living room of the Hatake ancestral home. Hiruzen Sarutobi puffed on his cigarette for a long time before finally taking out a scroll and placing it on the table.

"Third Hokage, what's this?" Kakashi asked, puzzled.

"Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. Naruto is about ready to start formally training in ninjutsu. This technique is most suitable for his physique. You can teach him the basic Shadow Clone Technique, and when he's a little older, you can teach him this."

Kakashi was speechless. Other things were fine, but when it came to Naruto, he couldn't refuse.

"Then I thank the Hokage on Naruto's behalf," Kakashi said after putting the scroll away.

"Of course," Hiruzen Sarutobi said. "Before, I was too busy with official duties and neglected to take care of Naruto. Fortunately, now that you're here, I can finally relax. As for the other technique, I've found a more suitable teacher for Naruto. In a few years, he will personally teach Naruto."

Kakashi's expression shifted slightly. The ninjutsu that the Third Hokage specifically mentioned teaching Naruto was probably the Flying Thunder God Technique, which made the Fourth Hokage famous, and the Rasengan he later developed. Naruto might not have the talent to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique, so the Third Hokage was probably referring to the Rasengan. And the person who would teach Naruto the Rasengan…

"Is Lord Jiraiya coming back?" Kakashi asked.

"Yes," Hiruzen Sarutobi smiled. "That guy has been out there wild enough. It's time for him to come back and share some of the burden with this old man."

Kakashi remained silent. He understood that Hiruzen Sarutobi's mention of Jiraiya at this moment was a warning to him and to Uchiha Touhuan behind him. Unlike the aging and frail Third Hokage, Jiraiya, wielding the Sage Mode of Mount Myōboku, would be the undisputed strongest man in the village once he returned. While Uchiha Touhuan was strong, he was still some distance from Jiraiya at his full strength.

But was that truly the case? Kakashi couldn't help but recall the image of Uchiha Touhuan with the faint purple eyeshadow he had seen that night. Furthermore, would Lord Jiraiya really be willing to get involved in these matters?

Seeing Kakashi's somewhat lost state, Hiruzen Sarutobi spoke again: "Kakashi, are you really not planning to try running for Fifth Hokage? I'll have Jiraiya assist you."

"Hokage-sama, please don't joke around. Lord Jiraiya is far more qualified to be Hokage than I am," Kakashi replied.

"You can't say that. Do you think I, as his teacher, don't know that brat's personality? He would never take on the responsibility I'm carrying," Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed.

"Lord Jiraiya will understand your good intentions," Kakashi said.

"Alright." Seeing Kakashi's resolute attitude, Hiruzen Sarutobi had no choice but to change the subject. "Kakashi, let's not talk about the Fifth Hokage for now. What are your plans for the future?"

"Touhuan invited me to work in the Security Department, responsible for the detention and interrogation of criminals with special identities," Kakashi said. There was no point in hiding it. Anyway, once he reported to the Security Department, the Third Hokage would know immediately, so saying it directly would make him seem more open and honest.

"The Security Department?" Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyelids twitched. Kakashi's relationship with Uchiha Touhuan seemed even closer than he had imagined, which made him sigh inwardly, but he still said without changing his expression, "It's not a bad place. Touhuan is also a good kid with the Will of fire in his heart."

"That's right. Touhuan's understanding of the Will of fire is so profound that it often makes me feel ashamed," Kakashi said expressionlessly.      "With young people like you in the village, I'm sure the First and Second Hokage would be very happy if they knew from beyond the grave," Hiruzen Sarutobi remarked. "Well then, Kakashi, I won't bother you any longer."

"I'll see you out," Kakashi said, getting up, but Hiruzen pressed him back down.

"Coming to see you out so late is already an intrusion on this old man's part," Hiruzen said with a chuckle. "I'll just walk back myself, consider it a digestive aid. This ramen is really good; no wonder Naruto likes it so much."

Although Hiruzen said this, Kakashi still saw him to the door.

"Kakashi," Hiruzen turned back before leaving, speaking earnestly, "Now that you've pulled yourself together, you still need to keep up with your training. How many more years can these old bones of mine hold out? I hope I can personally drape the Fifth Hokage's robe over your shoulders."

Kakashi didn't respond, but silence was the best answer.

  ...

Time passed day by day, and three days had quickly gone by since the village was placed under martial law. After that day of martial law, the village's security had visibly improved, the work of the security department members was much easier, and the number of complaints received by the security department had decreased dramatically.

Kakashi had already taken up his post at the new security department on the banks of the Naga River, and the ANBU sent by the Third Hokage to investigate the case of collusion with Orochimaru in kidnapping village clan children had arrived. The security department had also unearthed some old files, and a joint investigation team led by Uchiha Touhuan was officially established.

Before the investigation officially began, Uchiha Touhuan gave instructions in the meeting room: all members of the three clans involved should be severely punished, their properties should be seized and confiscated, and compensation must be provided to the families of the victims.

However, before the meeting was even halfway through, Uchiha Inahi knocked on the meeting room door.

Upon entering the meeting room, Uchiha Inahashi whispered a few words in Uchiha Touhuan's ear, and Touhuan's expression instantly became quite interesting.

  Two hours earlier,

at the point where the Third Hokage's gaze met, was the village's largest hot spring inn area. Whether ninja or civilian, villagers loved to soak in the baths after a long day to wash away their fatigue. Today, however, a white-haired man named Nakato had suddenly appeared there.

This white-haired Nakato was hiding in the bushes not far from the open-air hot spring, his large buttocks sticking out, occasionally letting out a lewd laugh.

However, he hadn't been there long before he was discovered by the people in the hot spring, and the screams instantly attracted the patrolling security team.

After three patrol teams were dispatched, they finally apprehended the white-haired Nakato and brought him back to the security headquarters. However, some of the Uchiha clan captains in the security headquarters were instantly unsettled upon seeing Nakato. Wasn't this Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin?

"Excuse me, everyone, I have to leave. The Security Department has important matters to attend to," Uchiha Touhuan said to the others in the conference room, forcing back a twitching smile.
