By the time night was falling, Gotham felt colder than it had all day.

Noah sat on the same bench in the park, hands in his pockets, staring at the flickering streetlights. He had done… nothing. Not a single productive thing. He hadn't trained. He hadn't practiced his power. He hadn't even moved much beyond wandering the park.

"Okay, Noah," he muttered, "tomorrow… tomorrow I start. Training. Focus. Don't die."

He exhaled slowly, rubbing his face. His stomach growled, and reality smacked him like a wet towel. Food. Right.

Money was low. Motel rent wasn't going to pay itself. And he certainly couldn't splurge on a hot meal again.

Instant noodles. It was sad, it was cheap, it was… all he had.

He trudged down the street to a small convenience store, lights buzzing overhead, shelves stocked with junk and snacks. He wandered toward the instant noodles, his eyes scanning the wall of flavors.

Chicken… beef… spicy… maybe… maybe not spicy…

He reached for a package when the door slammed open.

Noah froze.

A group of men in masks and dark jackets stormed in, brandishing guns. Their movements were frantic, almost desperate.

"Everyone stay calm!" one barked, pointing a gun at the cashier. "Give us the money! Now!"

The cashier froze, hands shaking, eyes wide. "P-please… I don't—"

The lead man slapped the counter. "NOW! Or we start shooting!"

Noah's stomach flipped. His heart pounded, his chest hurt. He had no plan. He had no training. Just one thought: Don't die.

He ducked behind the shelves, pressing himself against the instant noodles display. His legs felt weak, his hands were clammy.

Okay… Noah. Focus. You have… something. That thing in your hand.

He looked at the faint glow pulsing on his palm. His multiverse system symbol. Minor reality manipulation.

This is not the moment to mess around. You can do this. You can.

He exhaled, letting adrenaline sharpen his thoughts. Carefully, quietly, he focused.

He imagined the bullets missing him. The aim off by inches. A subtle shift in trajectory. Just enough… just enough…

Then the world around the gunmen wobbled—just slightly. The bullets they fired missed by the tiniest fraction, ricocheting harmlessly off the walls, hitting shelves, or clattering to the floor.

Noah froze, eyes wide. It… worked. It actually worked!

The men looked confused, guns wobbling. "What the—?!"

He kept his concentration, heart hammering. Not trying to attack. Just… survive. Just… keep them from noticing him.

The leader cursed, glancing around, clearly thinking he had a bad shot or maybe someone was messing with them. Noah's pulse thundered in his ears. Keep calm… just keep calm…

Finally, one of the men grabbed a handful of cash from the register, muttering curses, and they all bolted out the door as quickly as they came, leaving chaos in their wake.

Noah stayed crouched for a long moment, chest heaving. His legs shook so badly he almost collapsed.

"Oh… oh my God," he whispered. "That… that just happened."

He pressed a hand to his chest, staring at the faint glow of his symbol. Minor reality manipulation… actually works under stress. That… that might have saved my life.

He exhaled slowly, finally letting himself sit upright against the noodle shelves. Shaking, sweaty, scared. But alive.

"…I… I did that," he muttered, half disbelief, half awe. "I actually… did that."

The cashier peeked out from behind the counter, wide-eyed. "Are… are you okay?"

Noah nodded shakily. "Yeah… yeah, I'm fine. Just… surprised, I guess."

He grabbed his instant noodles quickly, paid the clerk, and left the store. Outside, the cool night air hit his face. The city looked the same, chaotic and indifferent. But for the first time, Noah felt… capable.

He walked back to his motel slowly, clutching the noodles like a trophy. His hands still trembled. The adrenaline had left his body in waves, but the excitement lingered.

Tomorrow, he thought, tomorrow I train. I need to know what this thing can really do. And maybe… maybe I won't hide so much next time.

But for now… surviving the night felt like enough.

Noah looked up at the Gotham skyline. The city hadn't broken him yet. Not completely.

And he had powers now. Real powers.

Step one: live. Step two: learn. Step three: maybe kick a little ass along the way.

He smiled faintly, holding the steaming cup of noodles. "Yeah… I think I can do this."
