Chapter 11 - Woolie, The Gold Mine

After finalising all the details and promising to send the trust fund money today multiple times, Raiden finally let the agent go reluctantly, who began to flee at top speed as soon as he left the home.

The papers of farm will take around a week to process it all. Raiden had to wait till the next week to finally see and inherit the farmland.

To celebrate this newfound modest fortune, Raiden decided to splurge on food today, letting both gluttons order whatever they wanted to eat.

"Hooray!! Long live big brother!!"

"Woolie!!~"  (˶'ヮ'˶)

After the food arrived half an hour later, both Sylvia and Raiden sat on the dining table eating, while Woolie sat on top of it, eating from his own bowl. It was a foodie too.

While eating, Raiden remembered the conversation he had with Old Man Tobias, and how any of these eggs would help him earn money easily in the future.

"Hey Sylvia, you recognised Woolie species yesterday. Can you tell me more about it?"

Sylvia paused eating midway and gave Raiden a look filled with confusion.

"You—you don't know about Woolie? Then why did you purchase him??"

Raiden felt stuck. He didn't know how to answer that without showing his ignorance.

"Don't worry about it, just tell me what you know." He said, brushing her question aside directly.

"Alright. So Woolie is a very popular farm animal. It is renowned for its quality of wool, and it produces about 3-4 kgs of Wool every week. The higher the quality of Wool, the higher it sells for. As for high exactly, I don't know. But it must be pretty high considering the egg itself sells for around 100,000 Credits. Not to mention the upkeep costs to keep it well fed and increasing its quality."

Hearing this, the way Raiden looked at Woolie changed completely. He felt like he was looking at a Gold Mine.

Woolie, who was eating happily, felt a shiver go down its spine. Panicked, he started looking around to see what was responsible and found its trainer looking at him with a scorching gaze.

Looking at the empty plate in front of human, he turned to look at the food he was eating, which was only half finished.

Sure that the despicable human wanted to steal its food, it started eating faster than ever before, not giving him a chance to steal from it.

"Your Woolie, though, is kind of special." Sylvia, who just finished eating, leaned back on her chair and spoke lazily.

"Oh? He is special? How?" Raiden knew he was special. He had seen the talent entry for it after all.

How a sheep had the bloodline of a wolf, though, was beyond him.

Feeling it was time to shine, Sylvia started showing off her knowledge.

"Your Woolie, who can use lightning, is a variant!! Normal Woollies can't use it, ya know. Do you want to know what a variant is? Don't worry, your big sister here will tell you. Variants are those Terra Beasts that have slightly different genes from regular ones, making them stronger than normal ones. This tends to affect their evolution too, letting them evolve in a completely new and unknown direction."

After finishing the explanation, Sylvia stuck her chest out, adopting the expression that screamed, 'Praise me.'

Raiden didn't disappoint. "Wow, Sylvi, you are so smart. No wonder you are on top of your class. No wonder you are my sister. You got all your smarts from me."

Sylvia was pretty happy hearing the praise until she heard the last line. It made her furious.

Her brother started to change two weeks ago from an introverted and somewhat gloomy brother to an outgoing, happy and shameless one.

Sometimes Sylvia wondered if someone had swapped her brother somehow in her sleep, but seeing the same caring look in his eyes, she knew it was still her somewhat dumb big brother.

And honestly? She preferred this new version of her big brother more; it made her feel less alone.

"You shameless thief, who is related to you?! Wait for me!!" Sylvia screamed and started to chase him around, who laughed and bolted from his seat.

Woolie, thinking they were playing with each other, happily jumped off the table after finishing his food and joined the chase, sometimes letting out a violet coloured bolt of electricity, causing both of them to jump around.

Just like that, all three of them played together for half an hour amidst laughter, before falling on the couch simultaneously, feeling tired.

After resting for a while, Raiden started speaking.

"Alright, enough fun for today. Let us get back to work. You still have a kitchen to clean, Sylvi. As for me, I need to do some more research about Woolie."

Sylvia groaned before muttering curses under her breath as she started walking away towards the kitchen with a gloomy face.

Raiden, on the other hand, pulled out his phone and started searching for Woolie and its wool types, and what he saw absolutely blew him away.

There were 7 tiers of wool quality available in the market.

First two qualities were considered very poor quality, and there was little to no market for them, selling for around 2,000 credits monthly at most.

Then came the market standard, which started from standard quality, then fine quality, ultra fine quality, luxury quality, and bespoke quality.

The higher they moved up, the higher the price difference rose, with bespoke wool, the highest tier, earning anywhere between 40,000 to 50,000 per kilo.

Considering Woolie's sheds on about 3 kgs per week, he was looking at 480,000 per month just from this alone!!

Of course, Raiden didn't think that he would be able to get that much.

He aimed to get the standard market rate, 10,000 per month for his.

That would easily cover his and his sister's, and Woolie's monthly expenses, with a few thousand left. Of course, he will have to visit the shop first to know how much his wool was worth.

After finishing his research, he put his phone away and sat cross-legged on the couch before calling out the system to start his second task of the day.

"System, show me the status."
