Chapter 31 - The Little Girl Who Cried

After Celine turned, her eyes caught a minor commotion in a corner of the garden. The blow to her back had been caused by a tumbler accidentally tossed in her direction.

A middle-aged woman ran toward Celine in a panic. "I am so sorry. Forgive us, Miss. Are you alright?" The woman rubbed Celine's back, her face etched with worry.

"It is alright. I am fine," Celine said, wincing slightly as she nursed the sting.

"What happened? Why is she crying?" Celine asked, noticing a little girl in a wheelchair who was currently sulking.

"She wants to see her father, but he is still busy," the nanny replied.

Celine felt her chest throb at the sight. With slow steps, she approached, followed by the nanny who clearly felt overwhelmed. "Hi there," Celine greeted softly.

The little girl did not respond. Instead, her sobs grew louder. Celine turned to the nanny. "I will try to calm her down."

The nanny let out a long sigh, her face looking exhausted. "Yes, please."
