Chapter 2 - The Manager

Manager.

When they knew that they had acquired this new skill, no one decided to lie down any longer, as they quickly checked what kind of benefits they could get from this ability!

"But the name is strange."

"It's better than nothing."

"A beggar can't be choosy!"

"Guys... I think this skill is more amazing than we thought it would be."

Yup, the manager was an amazing skill, they thought.

"Is it?"

"How can you tell?"

"How about we just ask?"

"Can we?"

"Manager, what is your ability?"

[Report. Our skill is about efficiency. We treat reality like a project management dashboard, visualizing "work" as tasks to be optimized.]

"..." 4x

"...in other words?"

"It's an AI?"

[Correct. We will analyze the most efficient way to finish the "work," so the users can achieve the optimum result with the least effort.]

"..." 4x

At this point, the four of them looked at each other, as they had a strange feeling. Yes, they were all excited about getting this ability, but they felt so strange, especially when they thought about how it was their former position in their previous life.

"...why did we get this ability?"

[The skill is born from the deepest desire of the users, and based on the system's analysis, it is deduced that the user wishes for this skill.]

"Did we?"

The four of them looked at each other and somehow... they understood why they got this ability. Their wish was simple: "I want to work less," and because of that, this skill was born.

Still, was this ability good?

"...so, let's say that we need a week to study something, then?"

[We can make it into one hour for you to study efficiently, Sir.]

"...." 4x

Yup, this ability was godly!

Still, as they were still in this place, it was impossible for them to start the project, or rather, as many things happened in just a short moment, their minds hadn't accepted everything. They were in a state of momentary loss, as everything was just too much for them to accept at first. More importantly, they wanted the first project of their learning to be the one that could help them the most, and as they hadn't returned to the reality they'd been reincarnated into, they hadn't had time to think about what to do.

"By the way, is it possible for you to transfer my knowledge of middle school education to others?"

[Report. It is possible.]

[Do you wish to transfer the knowledge of the middle school education?]

[Yes/No]

"..."

"...with this ability alone, I feel like this skill is good enough."

"That's right." 3x

Yup, with this transfer of knowledge, they could share what they learned with others without letting others see any trauma, shame, or other memories they didn't want them to know.

"How about we try the knowledge transfer now?"

"Wait a moment. Let me ask."

"What do you want to ask?"

"I mean, if we just accept all the knowledge in our heads, will it be alright? Won't it cause a problem when so much knowledge is crammed directly into our brains instantly? I feel like... we might get an intense headache due to the overwhelming information that enters our heads."

Yes, while the transfer of knowledge was good, they felt it would be too hasty to transfer it to others immediately.

If they made a comparison, it would be like water.

If one drank water from their glass, it would be okay. Instead, they would feel comfortable, as their thirst was satiated, but if they were hit by a flood, the water that had erased their thirst would directly erase their lives.

[Correct. It is not advisable to instantly accept all the knowledge directly into the mind as it might cause the user to be overwhelmed by the stress that comes from the sheer amount of information that enters the user's brain.]

"..." 4x

"...Let's not do it, then."

[It's a wise decision.]

"..." 4x

Still, like how the data was transferred from the laptop to the hard disk, or simply downloaded something from the internet.

While some might have had a high-speed connection that allowed them to access the data instantly, in most cases, many had to wait for a while, since, depending on the quality of the hardware, the time needed to process everything could be fast or slow.

Regardless, their goal at this moment was obvious: to learn.

"Before we go back, how about we start to introduce ourselves again and the world where we are reincarnated from, so that when there are two people who somehow reincarnated in a similar world, they can study different subjects, so we won't waste our time."

"Agree." 3x

No one refused since wasting time was their enemy.

Efficiency was absolute.

As someone who has worked as a manager in the past, while the programs, the AI, and all the other things that were dead were consistent, predictable, and yet also reliable, the humans, the employees, were the variable, as everyone was different.

If his subordinates were loyal, working hard, smart, and even talented, he would be in tears and even give them more bonuses, so they would stay, but he knew well that such people were rare, especially when most people were lazy, incompetent, lustful, greedy, envious, and just... weren't fit to work.

Frankly, sometimes, he wondered why people could be so different despite receiving the same education.

Yes, he knew that people were different, including their ability to study and work, but even so, if one was willing to try, he would help, but many didn't want to and just rooted, expecting the higher being to come to help them, or be the parasite for the people that they knew.

Some might argue that it was impossible to change, but the four of them would say that those people were just lazy and cowardly, since, as they had nothing, even if they failed, why should they feel afraid?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Even if the four of them reincarnated on different worlds, their core remained the same: to live with dignity, in a way that allowed them to live in comfort and to take care of their loved ones.

"By the way, is there any of us who has lost their virginity?"

"What about you?"

"Not yet."

"Me too." 3x

[Should we make a plan on how to lose your virginity quickly, Sir?]

"NO!" 4x

Yup, while they knew the "Manager" tried to help them, they knew that there was something that one should do and shouldn't do, or rather, they knew that most women fell in love with someone who could give them stability and showed competence, so instead of thinking about women, they knew that they would improve themselves and frankly, even if they did nothing, they felt like... those women would come to them, as they grew stronger together.

Especially when they have a "Manager" now.

Still, before all of that—

"Should we go back to reality?"

"Okay!" 3x

No one could wait any longer, and they all wanted to return to reality, especially when they knew that this system was necessary to face the adversity they were about to face.

"Suzuki Tanaka, it's your turn! Stand up on the stage and face Uchiha Sasuke!"

"....."

"Hmph!"

While Suzuki was speechless, Sasuke Uchika merely snorted as he walked toward the stage, ignoring him as if he faced a flea.

Yup, after Suzuki Tanaka returned to reality, he knew well he had to face this emo boy who had a psychopathic big brother that had killed his entire family, and many other dark things that might swallow him in this world where the life of a ninja was as cheap as vegetables.
