"I've had good teachers," Alex said diplomatically.
After Clay left, they ate in comfortable silence—the food was excellent, hearty and warm, exactly what Alex needed after the day's stress.
The babies settled as he ate, apparently satisfied that food was finally arriving.
"They're always hungry," Alex observed, finishing his second helping of roasted vegetables.
"They're growing fast," Naga said, resting a hand on Alex's belly. "I can feel them getting stronger every day."
"Do you think they'll be born before we collect the fourth stone?" Leo asked.
Alex did the math. "I'm at twenty-four weeks now. Full term is around four weeks, give or take. That's only twenty-eight days left. We have four stones left to collect..."
