Chapter 4 - Isha

Isha's pov

"KIRA!!!" I screamed as my best friend flew back, crashing on the ground.

The mysterious woman froze, stunned by Kira's action. I ran towards her, kneeling beside her.

"No no no please wake up," I said in tears. Half of her body was burnt beyond recognition.

"It's of no use," I heard the woman say behind me quietly, "no mortal can survive that,"

"You did this!" I growled in anger, standing up.

She unconsciously stepped back as I made the ground shake, producing huge rocks and destroying the field in the process. Then I yelled and launched everything at her. She created an invisible barrier, protecting herself but the impact caused her to move back.

But then she cleared it immediately and the cloud changed, thunder rumbling and the trees rustling. I stumbled at this. She can control the weather?

"Leave now, while you still have the chance," she said coldly.

I realized I was no match for her. With a rare power like that she could kill me easily. I took one last look at Kira's frame.

"This is not yet over," I promised, then ran as fast as my legs could carry me.

The sky cleared as I ran into the forest. I glanced back to see the woman standing above Kira's body. I bit back my tears and turned, running back to the village as fast as I could and occasionally tripping on the way.

I finally made it back and ran straight to my father's tent where he handled official matters, ignoring the curious gazes.

"Dad!" I called and knelt down, physically and emotionally drained.

He stood up from his desk, "Where have you been Isha?! Explain yourself young lady,"

But I just knelt there and broke down in tears. He rushed to me, crouching, "What happened? Did anyone hurt you? Tell me their names and I'll. . ."

"Kira," I cut him off, "she's dead,"

He stiffened, then hugged me, "Oh child."

"I'm so sorry dad, I-I should've listened to you. I never should've forced her to go hunting with me. . .and t-that woman came out of nowhere a-and. . ."

He froze briefly, then consoled, "Shh it's okay."

"I tried to stop her, dad. I really tried. . .but she was too strong," I said in tears.

"That was the evil sorceress Isha," he explained softly, "she's the reason I didn't want you to go to the forest,"

"T-the evil sorceress?" I stammered in shock.

"Yes," he muttered as he consoled, "you're not strong enough yet."

"And now Kira is dead because of me," I cried in his arms, while he gently stroke my back.

He stayed quiet for a moment, "How did you escape?"

"She let me go," I answered truthfully. He paused his movement.

"That's strange. She never leaves survivors," he mutters. Now that I think of it, it was strange.

"Come, let's go inside the house," he said as he picked me up, "you must be feeling cold,"

I sniffed and nodded, following him out of the tent.
