"Bulma, today's the big day you register at school—don't be late!"

The cheerful voice echoed from downstairs just as a stylishly dressed woman glided into the room. She froze in the doorway, her eyes widening at the scene before her. Her gaze lingered on the tall, muscular young man beside her daughter, and a playful smile spread across her face. "My, my! Who's this handsome gentleman? Bulma, you've been hiding a boyfriend from me? And you've already brought him home? My, how forward!"

"G-good morning, Okaa-san! I'm Son Goku. It's a pleasure to meet you!" Goku hastily retracted the hand he'd been reaching out with, opting instead to scratch the back of his head with an awkward grin. This is Bulma's mother? He stole a glance at her youthful, elegant features. Remembering Dr. Briefs, he couldn't help an internal chuckle. Talk about an old ox eating young grass. The world of the rich is something else.

"Oh? You're Son Goku?" Her surprise was genuine. "Bulma talks about you constantly! But she always described a little boy. I never expected such a strapping young man. Bulma, you've been deceiving your poor mother!" She shot a mock-stern look at her daughter.

"I didn't deceive anyone! I'm just as shocked as you are," Bulma retorted, rolling her eyes. "Who knew the little brat from two years ago would sprout up like this?" Secretly, she was relieved by the interruption. A moment longer, and she might have been in serious danger from this suddenly overwhelming Goku. Resisting him was not a battle she felt confident she could win.

Seeing his opportunity for… whatever that was… evaporate, Goku got straight to the point. "Hey, Bulma. Your Dragon Radar—can I borrow it?"

"Huh? The Dragon Radar? Are you hunting the Dragon Balls again? What do you need to wish for this time?" Her eyes narrowed suspiciously. She knew Goku; he only turned to the Dragon Balls when something was critically important.

"Well, while I was training in the Heavenly Realm, I found this place called the Room of Spirit and Time. A single day outside equals a whole year inside. It's an incredible place to train," he explained honestly. "I want to ask Shenron to make one for me. It'd be a hassle to keep going back to the Heavenly Realm every time."

"What? One day equals a year?" Bulma's jaw nearly dropped. "A place like that actually exists? Did you train in it? No wonder you changed so much in just two years!" The pieces clicked into place. Without his explanation, she would have never guessed such a miraculous training ground was real.

Digging through her bag, she pulled out the Dragon Radar, unused for years, and handed it over. A hint of regret colored her tone. "It's a shame I have to enroll today. I'd love to hunt for them with you again. Next time, I guess."

"School? With a brain like yours, do you even need to go? Come hunt Dragon Balls with me instead!" Goku tried one last persuasive push.

"Not this time. I've skipped way too much already," she sighed, her shoulders slumping. "This final semester, I have to attend properly." Her family's wealth and her own genius could only excuse so much truancy.

"Alright. I'll manage on my own then." Accepting her decision, Goku took the radar. He offered a quick wave to Bulma and her mother, focused his ki, and soared out the open window on a burst of Bukūjutsu.

"Good heavens! Your boyfriend can fly?" Bulma's mother exclaimed, though her expression held more amused curiosity than true shock.

"Mom, he is not my boyfriend!" Bulma insisted, another eye-roll ensuing. Goku's flight was hardly surprising to her; after everything she'd witnessed, a little levitation was practically mundane.

Still… I never expected he'd turn out so… impressive. Boyfriend material? Hmm… maybe. A faint blush warmed her cheeks as she watched him disappear into the azure sky. With a resigned groan, she turned for the door. "Ugh, school. What a pain."

---

High above the clouds, Goku activated the Dragon Radar. The nearest signal pulsed steadily just a few kilometers to the southeast. Tensing his body, he shot toward it like a golden arrow.

"Should be right around here," he muttered, hovering above a desolate wasteland of sand and stone. His eyes darted between the blinking dot on the screen and the barren landscape below.

After a few minutes of searching, he spotted it—a familiar orange sphere wedged between two weathered rocks. "Gotcha! The Three-Star Ball!" A grin split his face as he plucked it from its resting place, holding it up to the sun. The crimson stars glittered within. "So this is the real thing… It's just like in the manga. Never thought I'd actually hold one." His excitement was tempered by a sudden, cold recollection. As amazing as they are, these things come with a price. The nightmarish visages of the Shadow Dragons from that unofficial GT series flashed in his mind. Official or not, the potential for such corruption was a risk he couldn't ignore.

I'll make my necessary wishes, then minimize their use. And if those Super Dragon Balls from the God of Destruction's legends are real… maybe they need to be dealt with preemptively.

His thoughts were shattered as the ground beneath him erupted. A monstrous, pangolin-like creature burst from the sand, its maw—lined with jagged, yellowed teeth—snapping at his legs. A wave of putrid, carrion-tinged breath hit him like a physical blow.

"Ugh! Your breath is deadly!" Goku gagged, twisting mid-air to avoid the lunge. As the creature's spiked tail whipped toward his head, his hand shot out and caught it by the tip. Without ceremony, he swung the beast in a full arc and slammed it into the hard-packed earth with a sickening crunch.

"You asked for it," he grunted, seeing the creature go limp, bleeding from its snout. He flung the body away; it impacted a distant sand dune and lay still.

"Congratulations! You have vanquished a Sand Scale Beast and earned 52 Energy Points. The Dimensional Transit System is now active."

A pleasant, synthesized female voice resonated directly in his mind. Simultaneously, a translucent, holographic interface flickered to life in the upper-right corner of his vision:

Energy Points: 52

Available Transit Targets: None

Goku stared, dumbfounded. "Wha… What is this? A system? The kind you read about in isekai stories?" His initial shock melted into burgeoning excitement. "If this lets me jump to other worlds by saving up points… I'll be set! Wahahaha!"

He spent the next few minutes trying to communicate with the voice and explore the interface, but to no avail. The system remained silent, and the screen offered no menus beyond its basic display, which he could hide or summon at will.

"Guess I need more points to unlock anything useful."

With a new goal, he took to the skies again, heading for the deep, untamed mountain forests. What followed was a one-sided harvest. To Son Goku, the fierce wildlife of Earth was little more than moving targets. In under thirty minutes, the counter in his vision climbed steadily.

Energy Points: 10,013

The chime sounded again. "Congratulations! Your Energy Points have surpassed 10,000. The Dimensional Gate functionality is now unlocked. You may initiate a cross-world transit."

The screen refreshed automatically. Below his point total, a new header appeared: Available Transit Targets. A single, familiar title was listed: Highschool of the Dead.

Heart pounding, Goku focused on the title. A small arrow appeared. He 'tapped' it mentally.

A extensive list cascaded into view, filled with names both iconic and obscure: Case Closed, Crayon Shin-chan, School Days… Over a hundred worlds, all seemingly low in combat power. Transit costs ranged from 500 to 1,000 points.

"This is it… I can really go?" His finger hovered over Highschool of the Dead. A confirmation prompt materialized:

"Spend 1,000 Energy Points to transit to Highschool of the Dead?

Yes / No"

He didn't hesitate. Yes.

The air before him rippled and tore. From the distortion, a circular gateway swirled into existence, its interior a mesmerizing, shifting vortex of prismatic light. It hummed with a low, otherworldly energy.

"Please enter the Dimensional Gate within 10 seconds. Failure to comply will result in gate dissolution, and points will not be refunded. 10… 9… 8…"

A wave of vertigo hit him. This is it. The point of no return. Do I step through?

"…5… 4… 3…"

The countdown was merciless. Adventure, danger, and unknown worlds beckoned from within the swirling colors.

"2…"

"Screw it!" Goku gritted his teeth, clenched his fists, and as the voice hit "1…", he launched himself forward in a determined dive.

The rainbow light engulfed him. The gate flashed once, a silent star going supernova, and then collapsed in on itself, leaving the mountaintop empty and still.
