Chapter 2 - prologue

Some stories don't begin with love.

They begin with silence.

The kind of silence that sits between two people

who feel everything…

and still say nothing.

The night was quiet, too quiet — as if the world itself was holding its breath.

They stood under the open sky, not close enough to touch, yet not far enough to walk away. The moon watched them like a silent witness, pale and distant, just like the truth between them.

If love was a language,

they had both forgotten how to speak it.

Necole had learned how to hide pain behind calm eyes.

Sara had learned how to smile even when her heart was tired.

They were strangers pretending to be fine.

Friends pretending not to care.

Two souls pretending this moment meant nothing.

But it did.

Because some connections don't announce themselves loudly.

They arrive softly…

and stay forever.

Sara looked at the sky, afraid that if she looked at him, everything she had buried would rise to the surface.

Necole looked at her, knowing that one step closer could change everything — or destroy it.

Neither of them moved.

Timing was cruel.

Feelings were dangerous.

And love… love was never part of the plan.

Yet fate doesn't ask for permission.

It only waits.

And when the moment comes,

it takes everything.

This is not a story about perfect love.

This is a story about almosts,

about what was felt but never said,

about hearts that chose silence

and paid the price for it.

Because sometimes,

the deepest love stories

are written in the spaces

between two people

who were afraid to speak.

And this…

is where their story truly begins.
