Chapter 32 - ripple effect

The city never truly slept — but that night, something strange stirred beneath its familiar noise.

Sirens echoed in the distance.

Not police.

Not ambulances.

Something deeper… heavier… vibrating through the air like a low-frequency pulse.

Mohit felt it first.

He was in the middle of light breathing cultivation on his rooftop when the air pressure shifted suddenly. His chest tightened slightly, and the reverse cultivation defect reacted like a warning bell.

His eyes snapped open.

Energy disturbance… large scale.

He stood slowly, scanning the skyline. Far to the east, beyond the clustered apartments and neon lights, the clouds above an abandoned industrial zone churned unnaturally — swirling inward like a massive invisible vortex.

Lightning flashed silently inside the cloud mass.

No thunder followed.

"That's not normal weather…" Mohit whispered.

Within seconds, his phone vibrated.

Arjun: Bro, you feeling that pressure?

Meera: Energy spike detected near Sector 9.

Siya: I'm scared… something's wrong in the air.

Mohit typed quickly.

Mohit: Stay where you are. Do NOT approach. Observe only.

He grabbed his jacket and quietly moved across rooftops toward a higher vantage point. He didn't intend to interfere — only to confirm what was happening.

As he reached the edge of a tall building, the scene unfolded clearly.

The abandoned factory grounds below were lit by unstable flashes of blue-white light. Cracked concrete lifted into the air, floating as if gravity had weakened. Steel beams vibrated violently.

At the center of the chaos stood a single figure.

A teenager.

He couldn't have been older than sixteen.

The boy was screaming — not in pain, but in confusion and terror — as uncontrolled energy surged violently from his body, forming unstable shockwaves that rippled outward.

Cars alarmed.

Windows shattered.

Nearby buildings trembled.

Normal civilians began gathering unknowingly at a distance, filming with phones, unaware of the danger they were witnessing.

"This is bad…" Mohit muttered.

A wild awakening.

Uncontrolled.

If left alone, the boy could seriously injure or kill someone — including himself.

Mohit clenched his fists.

Intervening risks exposure… but letting this continue is worse.

He activated his internal flow carefully, suppressing his energy signature while enhancing his mobility. Leaping across structures, he closed the distance cautiously.

Before he could step in —

A shadow moved.

Three figures emerged from the opposite side of the factory grounds — dressed in dark tactical coats with faint glowing insignias on their sleeves.

Organized.

Professional.

Ravi's people.

"They're already here…" Mohit realized.

One of the agents raised a device that emitted a calming frequency wave. Another began forming a containment barrier using controlled energy techniques. The third approached slowly, speaking calmly to the panicked boy.

"Easy… breathe slowly… you're safe…"

The energy storm gradually weakened.

The boy collapsed to his knees, exhausted but alive.

The crowd's phones continued recording everything.

Too many witnesses.

Too many angles.

Mohit retreated into the shadows, observing silently.

Within minutes, official-looking emergency vehicles arrived — unmarked, fast, efficient. The crowd was redirected. The area was sealed off quickly.

But it was already too late.

Clips would spread.

Questions would rise.

Curiosity would explode.

The awakened world was leaking into public awareness.

Mohit returned home with a heavy mind.

By morning, social media was already flooded with videos titled:

"TEEN SUMMONS LIGHTNING?"

"REAL SUPERHUMAN CAUGHT ON CAMERA!"

"GOVERNMENT HIDING POWERS?"

Comment sections were chaos — disbelief, excitement, fear, conspiracy.

Schools buzzed with rumors.

Teachers pretended nothing happened.

But everyone felt it.

A shift.

During lunch break, Arjun leaned close. "Bro… this is going viral."

Meera whispered, "Recruitment pressure will increase now."

Siya looked worried. "What if people start hunting us?"

Mohit stayed silent for a moment before speaking carefully.

"This means hiding will become harder. But panic leads to mistakes. We stay disciplined."

That evening, Mohit felt a faint familiar presence.

He turned slowly.

Ravi stood near the alley entrance, hands in his coat pockets, expression calm as ever.

"You saw it," Ravi said casually.

"Yes," Mohit replied.

"The ripple has begun," Ravi continued. "Public awakening events will accelerate. Governments, groups, private forces — everyone will move faster now."

Mohit met his gaze. "And you want us aligned before chaos starts."

Ravi smiled slightly. "Smart boy."

Silence stretched between them.

"Think carefully," Ravi said finally. "Neutral ground disappears first during storms."

Then he walked away, fading into the city crowd.

Mohit exhaled slowly.

The future was no longer distant.

It was approaching fast.

And the choices ahead would shape everything.
