Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Nosy American

I ran out of the cafeteria. I got in the lift and pressed the 7th-floor button. The residential building is connected to the training building and the headquarters through a glass pathway. I commenced towards the pathway. It was a rapid walk. I was thinking of all the ways how I could save myself. I was not ready to face Austin. I crossed the headquarters building and started to proceed to the arcade.

I reached the training building. There was a reception near the lift. There were different rooms in the arcade. We usually practice in robotic and mattresses floored rooms. I went towards the reception. There was agent Carol sitting and reading some files.

"Hello" I greeted her.

"Hi. You are early today?" she asked.

"Oh," I said.

I looked at the wall clock behind her seat. It showed 8:30 A.M. I was at least half an hour early. Training begins at 9:00. But no worries, I would have some time by myself to think about the situation.

"Don't worry. Today you will be practicing in room no 7" she informed.

"Okay," I said and left for the associated room.

Today we will be practicing martial arts, good. I reached at the gate of the room. I took my phone out and got it scanned. The gates opened. As I entered, the room got lit up.

It was a big room. The wall was designed by the moves of the martial arts. This is the place in which we have been trained to defend ourselves. There were rods, belts, bricks, bokken, bo-staff, nunchaku, etc… I remember, I badly got hurt when I was climbing the rope. I even broke my arm. But due to doc's medicines, it got repaired in a week. His regenerating meds are a savior! As I was exploring the place, I heard the gates getting open up. I turned to see, and guess who was there? Austin.

What is he doing here now? Why can't he leave me alone for some time?

"Hey," he said.

"Hi" I replied.

"I was getting bored there so, I thought to give you some company," he said.

"You mean to say give yourself another company?" I teased him.

"Maybe, yes" he answered.

"Brie would love your company better than anyone else" I teased him again.

"Come on! Not you! You know that I don't like her" he answered annoyingly.

"But she does" I reverted.

"She is the reason I am not there, "he said.

"Why?" I asked him.

"She is a nice girl but, you know, she always makes herself look superior to others, her behavior sometimes irritates me" he explained.

"I know, but she does this to impress you," I said.

"Sometimes I wish how to take her eyes off me" he said.

"That's impossible" I commented and we shared a good laugh.

"By the way, whom do you have your eyes on?' he asked.

"I have told you before and I am telling you again, I am not interested in dating stuff. I want to focus on my goal" I cleared it to him.

"You don't change, don't you?" he asked smilingly.

"Nope" I answered.

He moved around the room and started exploring it.

"Hey do you remember we have our first fight with each other, here?" he asked.

"Yes, I do," I said smiling remembering that moment.

"I said to you I will be easy on you but it turned out you were being easy on me," he said.

"Yes, I took you down in 10 seconds, didn't I?" I asked him playfully.

"Yes, you did, so embarrassing," he said and laughed.

"Hey, you said something in the cafeteria but, I couldn't understand" he finally said. Here we go.

"Yes, I was saying that I had a call from my home and I was in the communication center," I said.

"Yes, I got that but, you said something about madam and discussing something. I couldn't understand what you said." he continued. Oh god. Why?

"Madam?" I pretended to think.

"Yes," he confirmed.

"Oh, now I got it, I was saying I saw madam jones down there" I lied.

"You mean Mrs. jones? The machinery department communication head?" he asked.

"Mrs.? She is married?" I asked.

"Yes," he said.

"Oh, I guess I didn't know that, when did that happen?" I said playing dumb.

"Since we came here," he said surprisingly.

"Oh. You know I have a habit of calling people with prefixes" I said.

"Yes, you do that, Asian value," he said. He sounded convinced.

"Yes," I said. I am clearly hopeless.

"So, what you were discussing?" he asked.

"She was telling me to join the machinery department, then she started discussing how this branch is better than others. It took me time to escape from her. That's why I was late." I lied.

"Oh yeah, she can be too much sometimes. At once I thought you said Madam Stella" he said. Oh no!

"What? No, I didn't mean that" I said.

"Guess, I was in confusion. Sorry," he said.

"No problem, it happens" I assured him. I let a sigh out. I hope everything is covered.

Before he could say anything, the gates opened and our fellow trainees entered.

"So, you two are here?" asked Brie.

"Hazel was here from before, I came now," said Austin. I think he guessed the tone. Good. Before Brie could say something, the doors opened again and agent Oliver entered.

Agent Oliver was our martial arts teacher. He is a tall man with a good body. He dressed in his tight grey suit, which had some white details.

"Good morning everyone" he greeted us.

"Good morning sir" we wished him back and bowed. He did the same.

"I guess you have been informed about the sessions?" he asked.

"Yes sir" we answered in rhythm.

"From now onwards your first half of the day will be your regular training of martial arts and the second half will be your sessions" he explained.

"That means, you all will go to your selected departments after the lunch break, did you get it?" he continued.

"Yes sir" we answered.

"Now take your positions, we will start from warmup" ordered agent Oliver.
