She definitely saw him getting touched by the zombie, she just wasn't sure if he got any scratches from it.

Lukas said that and slowly opened the door of his house and stepped out. He had brought the keys with him too so that he could lock it from outside.
Dead Walkers were not smart enough to open the gate, but infected people were. Although there might no longer be any infected left in this area, it was better to remain cautious.
