"It was his fault for barging in like that," Adonis rumbled, his voice dropping into a dark, unapologetic register. "The electronic locks were engaged. The universal protocol for an engaged lock is to request entry. He breached a secure perimeter."
Nikki burst into a bright, genuine laugh, her hands resting flat against his chest.
"You can't blame him!" Nikki teased, tilting her head. "You dragged me in here and locked the door in the middle of a workday! And you definitely shouldn't be kissing me like that over the desk. You almost gave your poor assistant a literal heart attack. I think his soul left his body when he dropped those papers."
Adonis's eyes remained on her lips.
