Chapter 31 - Lyssa Renver

Feigning admiration for the advanced medical technology, Leah walked slowly toward the desk at the far end of the room, where Claudine sat pretending to be busy. Leah glanced at Robert for a moment, ensuring the doctor was engaged in a serious conversation with a senior colleague.

The opportunity had arrived. Leah seized the moment, approaching an empty desk left by its owner. With swift yet trembling movements, her hand grabbed a small scrap of paper and a pen from the desk. Keeping her head down, she scribbled a short message in hurried, messy handwriting that was nonetheless legible, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings, alert for anyone watching.

Leah stood up again, pretending to look around casually, covering the paper she had now crumpled into a small ball inside her palm. She walked slowly until she was right beside Claudine's chair.

"Hi," Leah greeted, feigning friendliness.
