Not long after the fiasco of the other alphas Nathaniel had another "problem" and the problem was none other than David Jackson shorten as Dave. Someone who appeared right after Chris and Nathan started dating. This Dave claimed to be very close to Chris and has been best friends with him since Chris moved to America.
Nathaniel doesn't have a problem with the fact that they're best friends, but but the guy is an alpha. He is handsome, come from an wealthy family, easy-going and everything Nathan isn't. The way Dave looks at Chris is a bit unsettling and he sticks to Chris like a glue. Everytime they were on a date he would show up.
" I know he's in love with Chris, but does he have to be so blatant about it??" Nathaniel fumed one afternoon after work. So before we go any further let's rewind how this "problem" came to be.
A few days ago Nathan and Chris were going home after work. In the elevator they started kissing each other.
They kissed until the elevator doors opened and there stood a handsome alpha, David Jackson. He was shocked and then horrified, but then he masked his face with a smile. He shouted out " HIII CHRIS, LONG TIME NO SEE". Chris looked at the voice and smiled " hiii Dave, long time" and they hugged each other. Nathaniel tugged on Chris' jacket and asked with a frown "who's this?".
Chris turned around and said " ooh, this is my best friend, David and Dave, this is my boyfriend, Nathan. Nathan smiled and said "nice to meet you,David and David said "likewise, Nathan". How did this guy become Nathaniel's nemesis and love rival?
Well that's simple, because Dave doesn't hide feelings for Chris and Chris is the most dense person of all.
Even though Dave is trying to break them up Nathan wasn't going to let that happen.
Nathan tries his hardest at work and when he goes on dates with Chris he dresses to perfection. He tried to be confident and strong, it was overwhelming to see Dave around Chris. Everytime Nathan sees Dave he glares at him. Chris tells him Everytime that there was nothing between him and Dave.
It's not that he doesn't trust Chris, but the one he doesn't trust is Dave. And worse part is he is calling Chris' parents "aunt and uncle". So Nathan thought they liked Dave more than him. That's why he thought every rich people were pretentious, they were acting like they were fond of him.
One day Nathan went to a café to have lunch and saw Chris and Dave were hugging and they were laughing. At that moment Chris looked at him and saw Nathan was standing there with a shocked face. Nathaniel turned and walked away Chris wanted to go after him, but Dave stopped him saying to let him calm down and tomorrow they'll tell him the truth.
The next day Dave called Nathan to talk at the café from yesterday. Yeah way to rub salt in someone's wound. Nathan agreed.
Later they met and Dave told him not so guarded against him. Nathan replied " why shouldn't I?. Dave answered " because I'm not gonna steal Chris away from you". " why" Nathan asked.
Dave tells him that he has no interest in Chris because they were family. Nathan frowned and said " are you that comfortable, calling each other family already?". "No, we're actually blood relatives he's my cousin from my mom's side of the family. I must say I had huge crush on him, but that was years ago. When I found out we were actually cousins I gave up on that one sided love a long time ago.
Nathan has a complicated complexion lIke shock mix with disbelief and suspension written all over his face. Yeah, who wouldn't be? The person you thought was love rival, wasn't at all. So the question is " why was Dave doing all those things?". Simple he wanted to tests if Nathan was serious about Chris or was only after the power, fame or any other privileges Chris might bring to him. "Why" you may ask, because in U.S. people only befriended them, because they were wealthy.
When people saw that they were acting so lovey dovey they started to show their true colors so Dave thought Nathan would be the same. But he proved him wrong so Dave decided to come clean about his relationship with Chris. And so the misunderstanding was clear.
