Chapter 25 - When Everything Is Known

Yuna found out by accident.

Mio hadn't answered any messages since yesterday. No emojis. No excuses. Just silence.

That alone worried Yuna.

So she came to school early, hoping to catch Mio before classes started.

She did.

Mio was sitting at her desk, staring at nothing.

"Mio?" Yuna said softly.

Mio flinched. "Oh. Hey."

"You didn't reply," Yuna said. "Did something happen?"

Mio looked away.

The pause was answer enough.

"Did you tell him?" Yuna asked.

Mio's shoulders tensed.

"…Yes."

Yuna sat down slowly.

"And?"

Mio swallowed. "He was kind. Honest. He didn't lie."

Yuna nodded. "I see."

The room felt too small for the three of them—especially since Ren wasn't even there.

"I didn't want to hurt you," Mio said quickly. "I swear. I tried to bury it. I tried to be happy for you."

Yuna reached for her hand.

"I know," she said. "That's why this hurts."

Mio's eyes filled. "Are you angry?"

Yuna thought about it.

About love that arrived late.

About timing that ruined everything.

"No," she said finally. "I'm sad. But not angry."

Later that day, Ren found Yuna by the lockers.

"Mio told you," he said.

She nodded. "She didn't want secrets anymore."

He leaned against the wall. "Neither do I."

They stood there quietly.

"I never wanted to choose between people," Ren said.

"You didn't," Yuna replied. "Time did."

That evening, the group chat lit up for the first time since everything broke.

Me: Can we meet tomorrow? All of us.

Three dots appeared.

From everyone.

One by one.

Mio: Okay.

Ren: Yeah.

Yuna: I'll come.

Some meetings are meant to fix things.

Others are meant to say goodbye properly.

And none of them are easy.
