The reason Hiro allowed Lala-someone he had only just met-to enter the heavy light class wasn't simply because she was pretty, or because she harbored impure thoughts about him.
It was because she had talent.
Even if her inventions had flaws, as someone capable of tinkering with large amounts of black technology, her research ability was beyond doubt.
Moreover, Deviluke's level of civilization meant their biotechnology was likely countless generations ahead of Earth's.
If Lala could truly research the operating principles of the system, wouldn't that spare Hiro from endlessly running between worlds, painstakingly strengthening himself just to deal with a galaxy-devouring swarm of unknown scale?
If he could move forward leisurely, why choose to carry a heavy burden and sprint cross-country?
Rationally, Hiro didn't think such a possibility really existed.
But since even Grayfia's mind-reading could bypass the system...
maybe-just maybe-Lala could find something.
In the end, it all depended on how powerful the system itself truly was.
Following Lala into her private room and stepping through the teleportation gate, a vast open-air test field stretching to the horizon appeared before him.
Fortunately, knowing Nana had something similar, Hiro merely glanced around and wasn't particularly surprised.
"Just put it here."
"Yes! Leave the rest to me! I'll definitely find a way to control the Devourers before Dad and the others go to war!"
Is that so?
Then good luck.
Hiro didn't say it out loud. He simply extended his right hand to the side.
Bang.
A ferocious behemoth three to four stories tall appeared abruptly in front of them.
"Wow! A living large emitter! This is my first time seeing one!"
Pa!
Lala ran over excitedly and slapped the heavy light class twice.
First time seeing one?
Hearing that, Hiro's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
If they could restrain someone who was very likely a non-"miner" for several years, how could they not even capture a heavy light class?
Before he could ask, the excited Lala had already explained it herself.
"In the past, no matter what kind of Devourer it was, the moment it was captured alive, it would self-destruct. With our technology, we couldn't stop them from transmitting signals to each other at all. We couldn't even obtain a single living sample, let alone conduct control experiments."
"So when I heard through the grapevine that you had an obedient large emitter, I was really shocked!"
"Something the entire galaxy couldn't do-what are you, exactly? Later, when Little Dark told me that you yourself didn't even know the reason, I got even more curious about you."
So you really did have people look up my images and enjoy them with your sisters.
And that "Little Dark" from before was Golden Darkness Eve.
"You can play with it however you want. I don't care if it lives or dies."
Casually peeling off a small piece of flesh from the behemoth and storing it with magic, Hiro issued the command for the heavy light class to obey Lala's orders.
Then he turned and walked toward the exit of the test field.
Standing at the spatial gate, Hiro suddenly remembered something.
He stopped and turned back.
"Lala, you can contact your father-Gid-right now, correct?"
"Hm?"
She paused, the light blade in her hand freezing mid-motion, confusion in her eyes.
"If it's just contacting him, that's no problem. Does Hiro want to talk to Father?"
That's your father, not mine.
Hiro didn't bother correcting her.
"No need. Just pass on a message for me. If the war fails, he can retreat to Earth. Give me some time-I have a way to deal with all the... Devourers."
"?"
Hearing that unfamiliar term, Lala tilted her head.
"It's just my personal name for them. Don't worry. Just relay it as-is."
"Oh."
She nodded obediently, not pressing the issue.
She didn't know what Hiro's "method" was, but it was probably the same reason he didn't understand the operating principles of the large emitter himself.
Asking more wouldn't help-and would only annoy him.
Watching Hiro's figure disappear, the pink-haired girl thought quietly.
Bang.
Rejecting Sephie's suggestion to stay the night, Hiro had just stepped out of the Deviluke residence when a faint gunshot reached his ears.
The fact that even he only heard it faintly meant the distance was considerable.
Likely well over a kilometer.
Considering the different decibel levels of firearms, that was entirely possible.
The Deviluke family had just moved in, and something like this happened.
What were Zastin and his people doing?
Or did I mishear... maybe just a tire bursting?
Standing outside the Deviluke house, Hiro frowned slightly and reactivated Observation Haki-something he had deliberately shut off earlier to avoid seeing things he shouldn't.
He scanned all nearby buildings except the two behind him.
Then, in a house nearly a kilometer to his left-front, he found the source.
Four masked gunmen in black.
Three children huddled in the corner of the living room.
And a slightly older purple-haired girl at the base of the second-floor stairs, crying.
Among the three children, one small boy had already been shot in the chest.
Straight through the heart.
With a child's vitality, it wouldn't be long before he died completely.
So Zastin and his group were really just for show?
Or did they see it and simply not care-!!
The golden humanoid stopped time.
Hiro used that instant to fly straight into the house.
"Nakamura..."
That name sounded familiar.
He muttered it while glancing at the doorplate.
But there was no time to think about which work it came from.
This was life and death.
Ten years had passed.
Did people still remember the tragedy of the little angels?
By the way-
he'd heard there was even a "Kanade Cult" on the forums.
