"Don't worry. She was just too noisy, so I made her quiet down."
While explaining this to Arianna, Hiro walked toward the somewhat battered car.
Hearing that this was the reason for her treatment, Erica was momentarily speechless, a deep sense of grievance swelling in her chest.
What do you mean I was noisy?
I clearly only said two-no, three sentences at most!
Is it a crime for a lady like me to speak three sentences?
What an utterly ungentlemanly man.
Hiro tossed Erica onto the front passenger seat beside Arianna.
Then he and Grayfia entered the back seats one after the other.
"Go to Sardinia. Lucrezia Zola's residence."
Having taken charge, Hiro issued the order calmly.
"Yes, unknown Lord."
The maid immediately grasped the situation, nodded, and said nothing more as she pressed her hands against the steering wheel.
Bang.
The car body slammed into a wall again somewhere along the way.
The wine-red sedan executed a perfect slingshot launch under the maid's control.
Pang.
A large bump instantly swelled on Erica's forehead in the passenger seat.
"Pfft."
Catching the scene from the corner of her eye, Arianna finally failed to suppress the laughter in her heart and let out a faint chuckle.
Although she quickly realized herself, her constantly shaking shoulders made it clear how hard she was holding it in.
Whether it was Erica or Liliana, the two of them really did seem like a naturally comedic master-and-servant pair.
Shaking his head, Hiro reached out and healed the swelling on Erica's forehead.
He then released control over her consciousness, ensuring she wouldn't be seriously injured during the rest of the trip.
After all, in Hiro's memory, Arianna's driving skills were several orders of magnitude more terrifying than Irisviel's.
The latter was thrilling, but at least no one died and the car remained intact.
The former...
There was no need to say more.
"Arianna!!"
"I'm sorry, Young Lady! I really didn't mean it!"
Meanwhile, the maid was thinking to herself:
Who told it to be so funny?
Banging her head on her own car-hahaha.
As long as Arianna stayed focused-ahem-and kept her hands on the wheel, Hiro didn't intend to interfere with the farce between the two in front.
The shaking itself meant nothing to him or Grayfia.
He silently clicked "Use" on the female figure icon representing The Third Magic in the system item bar.
Before he could experience anything-
His vision abruptly went black.
Whether it was his body or his consciousness, everything detached from the battered car Arianna was driving.
In the next instant, he arrived in a deep space filled with nothingness.
Silent.
Utterly dead.
"...What the hell is this?"
Perhaps the thing called "eyes" turned, but the scene he perceived didn't change at all.
It was as if this space fundamentally did not permit the existence of anything recognizable.
Nothing but emptiness.
"I just used the Third Magic and ended up here?"
Existing in this void in some unknown form, with nothing to do, Hiro quietly reviewed what had just happened.
"The Third Magic... Magecraft... the grace of the Root..."
"So, am I currently inside the Root of the Type-Moon world?"
Raising an eyebrow he wasn't even sure existed, Hiro felt a trace of astonishment.
"Ever since I got this crappy system, its prestige has been dropping nonstop."
"I didn't expect it to have this kind of authority-one direct trip to the Root."
"But if I'm already here... why don't I feel anything?"
"Is there a failed-use setting?"
Just as that thought crossed his nonexistent brain, his consciousness suddenly blurred.
The surrounding void grew even more ethereal.
"Is the trial card expiring?"
"Am I about to get kicked out of the Root... or reclaimed by the system?"
The moment the thought settled, a violent sense of suffocation swept through him.
Like being yanked upward from deep underwater.
His vision blackened completely, and he nearly lost consciousness.
Then-
The suffocation vanished.
As if it had never existed.
At the same time, a faint voice sounded near his right ear.
"Wow, how bold."
"...Eastern pervert."
A soft, silk-covered touch pressed beneath his jaw.
A familiar fragrance reached his nose.
"Lord Hiro, I use the same shower gel as you."
"You should be aware of that."
Maintaining this posture, Hiro slightly raised his gaze.
He met a pair of unwavering gray eyes above him.
...You just want to touch me.
You could've said so.
Why be so roundabout?
"Grayfia."
"How long was I unconscious-no, out of it?"
Rubbing his temples, which felt completely fine, Hiro leaned back against the seat and asked calmly.
I'll remember this whole pretentious thing.
"About ten seconds."
"Ten seconds, huh?"
Opening his eyes, Hiro looked at his hands.
There was no change.
Quietly, he sorted through his thoughts.
That place just now had to be the Root.
The system gave me a zero-time trial.
If the time flow matched, then it was a ten-second trial card.
The reward obtained: The Third Magic - Soul Materialization.
Other than that-
Nothing.
Absolutely no extra benefit.
"Tsk."
Do I lack the qualifications to learn other Magecraft?
Or is this garbage system deliberately blocking additional rewards?
As he complained inwardly, Grayfia's voice reached his ears.
"It seems... something unexpected really did happen."
Yeah.
I originally wanted to toss Attack on Titan into the Campione world.
But there are still too many unresolved plot holes in the original setting.
I'd definitely get slapped in the face later.
I'll put that off for now.
