"We need to leave," Dante said suddenly.
They were still standing near the car outside the records office. His decision came fast, like he had already run through the options in his head.
"This town isn't secure. If they researched her here, means they know about he mother, and many things about her hometown. It's not safe."
"But we can't just leave," Lilian said immediately. "The town gathering is tomorrow. If we cancel now, it will look suspicious. And Mom will ask questions we can't answer."
"Your safety is more important than maintaining our cover," Dante replied, sharper than usual.
"My mother's safety matters too," Lilian shot back, her voice rising. "If we run now, whoever's watching will know we found something. They'll come here looking for what we discovered, and then my mother becomes a target!"
The princes were silent.
Adrian looked between them, and Lucien's gaze moved toward the building behind them, thoughtful.
