Liam Parker was just a regular guy on the outside, but inside? Different story. College student who knew what he wanted and worked quietly to get there. His little project was growing, and those numbers on his screen weren't just dreams anymore. Even the beat-up car that'd been with him for years - he finally sold it and got himself a sleek sports car. A clear sign of a new chapter he thought would last way longer than it actually did.

That morning, he was driving steady toward a meeting he'd been waiting months for. The investors he was about to sit down with could change everything. He wasn't speeding, wasn't distracted, just thinking about what he'd say when he got there.

A blinding white light, the sound of metal tearing apart, and massive pressure that didn't give him time to be scared. The truck came from where it shouldn't have, and the impact was so brutal his body didn't understand what happened until it was all over.

After a few moments - could've been seconds, could've been longer - feeling slowly came back. A harsh cold crept into his skin first, then the sound of rain. Liam forced his eyes open to find himself lying on cold asphalt, water pooling around him and washing over his face without mercy.

He sat up in pain, putting his hand on his chest like he was checking if he was still alive. His breathing was there... and that alone was enough to freak him out.

He looked around. Narrow street, tall buildings pressed together, dim lights like tired eyes watching from a distance. The people passing by didn't look familiar - dark clothes, cautious looks, like his being there either didn't matter to them, or maybe mattered more than it should.

He mumbled quietly, barely audible over the rain: "Where am I?... What happened to me?"

Liam stood up, staring confused at where he was, then started walking slowly. His steps were heavy like the street itself was pushing back. The rain didn't stop, and the cold was enough to keep him alert despite the exhaustion eating at his body. He looked at passing faces, at high windows, trying to find one detail to put him at ease... nothing.

Then he heard a voice coming from around him, but it was a whisper carried by the air. Clear, close, like it came from inside him.

"System loaded... Initiating protocols in: five... four... three..."

Liam stopped dead. His eyes went wide, his fingers froze.

"Two... one. User synchronized. Hello, Liam Parker. I'm your assistant in this world. How can I help you?"

He stumbled back a step, like he'd been slapped by someone invisible. He raised his hand to his head, pressed hard on his temples, as if the voice could be silenced by force.

He said out loud, his voice shaking and angry at the same time: "No... no, this is impossible. I'm imagining this, right?"

He looked around nervously, like someone would suddenly pop out and explain.

"What the hell is going on here?"

A few people sitting near a nearby alley, in worn clothes with pale faces, noticed his yelling. Their eyes met quickly, then they got up in a hurry. One muttered something unintelligible, another pulled his coat and rushed off. Within seconds, the place was empty except for Liam and the rain.

The female voice came back, calmer this time, with no threatening tone:

"Stress indicators elevated. Don't worry, Liam Parker. You're not imagining things. My existence is real, and tied to your survival."

Liam stood in the middle of the empty street, breathing hard, his mind refusing to catch up with what he was hearing.

He knew just one thing: What was happening to him was way beyond an accident.

And in the middle of his racing breath and thoughts, Liam finally asked the voice filling his head, in a low voice like he was afraid the place itself would hear:

"What are you?... And where exactly am I?"

The answer didn't hesitate. The female voice came steady, no wavering:

"I'm Lea, an assistant installed inside your body and soul, where I will help you in this world. I'll answer any question you ask, as long as the information is available."

A brief silence filled with the sound of rain hitting the asphalt, then she continued:

"You've been transferred from your real world to a world called the DC Universe. You're now in a city known as Gotham City."

Liam's features hardened. The words entered his ears, but his mind wouldn't accept them. Another world... a city he knew from comic books, from screens, not from reality.

He felt a weight in his chest, like everything he'd built in his previous life had collapsed all at once. He took a few stumbling steps forward, then leaned against a cold wall and let his head drop. He didn't try to stop the tears this time.

He said in a broken voice, barely coming out clear:

"After I got out of poverty... after my life finally started... I find myself in a crazy comic book world."

After moments of continuous crying, Liam realized something - maybe returning was possible. With big optimism and hopeful eyes, Liam asked his question:

"Is... is going back possible?"

A pause, then Lea's voice came calm but harsh:

"There's no possibility of return. Your physical body has been autopsied and buried."

Liam's heart jumped in his chest like the words had stabbed something alive inside him. He couldn't breathe freely, and the wave of despair in his eyes grew. A long silence passed before he found the ability to speak again, his voice quiet but tangled with pain and anger:

"So what am I supposed to do now?"

The reply came without hesitation, but with a tone carrying some firmness and challenge:

"You're now facing a new beginning... a system that will accompany you and allow you to rise to the level of heroes, and perhaps to the level of gods in this world."

And suddenly, a blue screen appeared before him, glowing in the air in front of his eyes, emerging from nowhere like the city itself was acknowledging his existence:

The screens stood before him, glittering blue under the rain, reflecting his weak and lost self. He didn't know where to start or where to go, but for the first time since arriving, he felt this beginning was... different.

Lea's voice returned, this time with a calm but firm instructional tone:

"You can level up by completing daily quests and collecting rewards, or executing main quests, or discovering hidden quests. But ignoring daily quests may lead to harsh penalties. There are also exceptional quests where the penalties are worse."

Liam was surprised by what Lea said and mocked her, saying: "What's a worse punishment than what's happening to me?"
