Chapter 50 - Chapter 51 Elizabeth Resigned to Her Fate

"One gold coin for warming my bed once."

Roger's words floated lightly.

Elizabeth's beautiful blue eyes widened, staring intently at Roger, as if to confirm she hadn't misheard.

He actually said he wanted to pay her to warm his bed?

And it was one gold coin per time?!

One gold coin!

She was the Governor's daughter!

He dared to insult her with a single gold coin!

She felt her cheeks burning, a rush of blood going straight to her head.

"You... who do you think you are?!"

Elizabeth's voice trembled with anger.

"I'm telling you, even if I, Elizabeth Swann, die!"

"Even if I have to squeeze in with those stinky pirates and eat moldy bread!"

"I will never agree to such a vulgar and shameless request!"

She straightened her back like a proud peacock.

She tried to defend her last shred of dignity with her nobility and anger.

However, Roger just watched her silently, without even a ripple of emotion on his face.

"Oh, really?"

Roger shrugged, tossing the gold coin between his fingertips before catching it steadily.

"That's truly a shame."

Roger turned around and sat back on his captain's throne, leaning lazily against the backrest.

"Gibbs!" he called out towards the door.

"Aye! Captain!"

Gibbs' one-eyed face peered in again.

"It seems Miss Swann isn't interested in my offer."

Roger said with a look of regret.

"Then let's stick to the old rules."

"Take her back to the storeroom, and give her an extra piece of dried salted fish for dinner; after all, she worked hard scrubbing the toilet today."

"As for tomorrow's toilet, remember to have her scrub it clean; I don't want to see any stains on it again."

"Aye! Captain!"

Gibbs stifled a laugh and gestured "please" to Elizabeth again.

Elizabeth froze completely.

She looked at Roger, who was completely unyielding and didn't take her seriously at all.

Then she looked at Gibbs' one-eyed face, which was practically screaming, "Miss, you might as well give in."

A deep sense of powerlessness welled up in her heart.

All her pride, all her anger, in front of this man, felt like punching cotton—soft and ineffective.

He simply didn't care.

He didn't care about her status, her beauty, or even her dignity.

In his eyes, she might truly just be a talking tool.

A bargaining chip for blackmail, a servant to scrub toilets, a "human hot water bottle" worth one gold coin!

Go to the storeroom?

Just thinking about that cramped, dark, foul-smelling place, and the cursed velvet toilet she'd have to face tomorrow, made Elizabeth's stomach churn.

She didn't want to go back to that dreadful place!

But, did she really have to agree to his absurd request?

To warm a pirate's bed?

If word got out, how could she, Elizabeth Swann, ever show her face in this world again?

Her heart was in turmoil.

Dignity and reality clashed in her mind.

"What? Has Miss Swann changed her mind?"

Roger's voice, untimely, rang out again, tinged with a hint of mockery.

"My patience is limited."

Elizabeth suddenly looked up, staring at Roger's smirking face, her silver teeth nearly grinding to dust.

She knew this man was forcing her.

He was enjoying the pleasure of trampling the dignity of a noble Governor's daughter underfoot and toying with it!

But... did she have a choice?

Elizabeth closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

When she opened her eyes again, there was no anger left in her beautiful blue eyes, only resignation.

"...Fine."

She squeezed the word through her teeth.

"I agree."

This decision seemed to drain all the strength from her body.

"Oh?"

Roger raised an eyebrow, seemingly a little surprised by her choice, but mostly it was as he expected.

"You've thought it through? Good."

"However, Miss Swann, I must warn you."

Roger stood up and walked back to her, leaning down and whispering into her ear in a voice only they could hear.

"My bed isn't that easy to warm."

"If you dare to harbor any ill intentions in my bed, like hiding a knife or trying to strangle me in the middle of the night..."

"I promise you, you'll regret it ten thousand times more than you do now."

Even though Roger was cursed and not afraid of death, being messed with would inevitably put him in a bad mood.

Elizabeth's body trembled uncontrollably.

She could feel that the man wasn't joking when he said that.

The dangerous aura emanating from him made her feel fear from the bottom of her heart.

"Take this distinguished Miss Swann to the room next to mine."

Roger straightened up and instructed Gibbs.

"Remember to find some clean clothes for her to change into and prepare hot water."

"Also, tell the kitchen to prepare her a roasted chicken leg and an orange for dinner."

"Aye! Captain!"

Gibbs looked at Elizabeth's dispirited expression, feeling both sympathy and amusement.

This noble Governor's daughter had truly been completely subdued by his captain...

Meanwhile, aboard the sea serpent.

Jack Sparrow and Barraba, who looked as if his parents had died, were making the final preparations before departure.

"Oh, my dear Captain Barraba."

"To be honest, I truly despise your name."

Jack adjusted his tattered tricorn hat with a flourish, speaking in an operatic tone.

"Don't be so gloomy, you should be honored!"

"It is your honor to embark on such an important mission with me, the great Captain Jack Sparrow!"

Barraba glared at him fiercely, snorted through his nose, and ignored him.

He was annoyed by Jack now.

If that devil Roger hadn't forced him, he wouldn't have moved with this lunatic even if it killed him.

"Listen, when we reach Port Royal, you listen to me in everything!"

Barraba warned menacingly.

"We are just delivering a letter; we'll leave as soon as it's delivered, absolutely no unnecessary trouble!"

"Of course, of course."

Jack readily agreed, but a cunning glint flickered in his eyeliner-rimmed eyes.

Delivering a letter?

Such a boring task did not fit the style of Captain Jack Sparrow.

It was a rare opportunity to return to Port Royal; if he didn't "requisition" something along the way, wouldn't it be a wasted trip?

Like... the dauntless?

A smile that no one could understand curved Jack's lips.

"Set sail!"

With Barraba's listless command, the dilapidated sea serpent slowly departed from the fleet's temporary anchorage.

Reluctantly, it sailed towards Port Royal.
