Chapter 1 - Origins

"Damn it" I cursed as I scrambled to find my phone in the darkness.

The weather forecast hadn't said anything about a storm, and now the power went out mid gaming session.

"Damned weather and i was about to beat that boss too."

A flash of lightning illuminated my room, using the brief moment of light I quickly looked around the room and spotted my phone.

Unlocking it I turned on the flash light and made my way to the kitchen. Flashes of lightning echoed in the distance as I walked, revealing pictures of me and my now dead family hanging on the walls.

'I should take those down' I thought to myself.

Shaking my head i pushed those memories away and reached my destination. After a long gaming session that, thanks to a series of unfortunate event, made me hungry.

Placing my phone on top of the fridge made myself a quick but descent meal with tea on the side.

Not as good as mom's but still OK.

Standing up i made my way to the sink and started washing the dishes. My thoughts eventually drifted to the game I was playing before the blackout.

"Asension to divinity."

A triple A mmorpg set in a parallel universe where earth got integrated into the wider universe where fictional races and powers where as common as air. The story was generic but executed decently. What I liked most were the power system and the world building.

The characters were meh but still not trash just really mid. It didn't have a harem which is the main reason I

started playing it in the first place.

It was synonymous with being really difficult and if you tried playing on easy mode it would become even harder. Alot of people ragequit after not being able to pass the first arc.

A boom and flash of lightning knocked me out of my thoughts. Now that I think about it my grandma had always warned me about touching water while there's a storm especially one with lightning. I had gradually forgotten about it and had done the exact thing she had warned me about multiple times.

I hadn't got electrocuted before so I guess it was just old people superstitions. At that moment I got a notification on my phone. Wiping my hands I opened my phone as if by a twist of unfortunate fate lightning bolt hit the gutter close to my kitchen. The electricity travelled from there to the sink soaked with water where my hand was and into my body. I couldn't see what the notification was about before my vision turned black.

'Am I dead?' I thought to myself in the void of darkness that my consciousness now lay. 'No if i were dead then I wouldn't be able to think right? Maybe I blackedout.'

I floated there aimlessly for what felt like millenia but could've been a few seconds. Until a flash a light anchored my thoughts.

When the light disapaited a high ceiling hung above me ,still dissorientated I failed to notice the crest engraved in it. Instead I looked around the room and it was lavish to say the least. Ornate wooden furniture that looked modern yet expensive filled the room and the bed I slept on could fit 50 of me comfortably the room itself was larger than my entire house.

Calming myself down I built enough courage to explore. During that time I also excepted the idea of me either having transmigrated into someone's body in another world or I was having a really vivid dream. Either way I would rather explore than sit around waiting for something to happen.

I first began by investigating the room before venturing outside. After not finding anything useful I looked outside the large windows of this room and what I saw immediately made me realise 3 things,1 I had transmigrated,2 I was Fucked a 3 i should apologise to my grandma.

" Damn it. Damn it. Damn it. Why this world and this family." I cursed as I paced around my room.

When I looked outside I saw a crimson flag in the distance. I thought I was seeing things at first but it was the flag of the Vespirian house.

That flag, a large white moon with blood flowing from it as a crest. I was all to familiar with that flag, it belonged to a villain clan In the game " Asension to divinity ".

They were op maniacs who were a pain in the ass to deal with in game as the protagonist.

While they aren't necessarily villains. Thanks this Thorne's BS they ended up opposing the mc.

I went to the bathroom I had found and looked at myself in the mirror. Silver hair with black Strands mixed in,ebony skin, and striking crimson eyes, a signature feature of the main house. I wasn't ugly in my old life per say average would be an apt description but now I could make models look like bums.

"What was this fuckers name again? Ahh [Thorne] " During the academy arc this lil shit was a run of the mill third rate villain. Died to easily though.

Couldn't I have been transmigrated as the mc or Atleast a main character.

With a sigh I rummaged through the closet which was as large as my bed room in my previous world. Guess this is the standard for being the son Of a Duke. I found a casual but respectful outfit and made my way out but before I could even get to the door a sharp headache assaulted my mind causing me to hunch over in pain.

Memories of the past Thorne flooded my mind. His childhood, knowledge and skills, behaviour all of it fused itself with my mind causing me to wonder how he had died.

No memories of yesterday night were in the ones I had received.

I won't exept these people as my family though or keep his rotten behaviour. Based on his memories my awakening is in a week. I could chalk my change in behaviour to the awakening. If I pass it that is.

While I new alot both from the memories and from playing the game, I hadn't fought anyone before so I should get used to "Thorne's" or rather now "my" fighting style.

Calming down I checked the time on my holographic interface ' 8:37 '. Still early, enough time for breakfast. "Now that I think about it, if I were to compare this world's technology with that of my old world it would be maybe 1000 years ahead."

Walking through the corridor I passed photos of passed generations of the house all with the same silver hair and red eyes.

After a while of walking i reached an elevator. A few seconds and a quaint chime later the doors opened.

'Shit.' I thought to myself as I saw who was already in the elevator. My "sister''.

(Unknown realm)

In the depths of an unknown realm, in a chamber shrouded in an eternal twilight.

Sat a figure shrouded in mystery atop a throne mared by time.

With every breath of theirs the realm trembled. With every move of there gargantuan form that could put stars to shame, space and time glitched in and out of existence.

"My lord pardon my disobedience but was it wise to choose that person." I tall hooded figure said.

"Fate makes no mistakes. Besides my time has long since passed. It's time for someone else to sit atop this throne. Prepare the inheritance in the meanwhile."

"Yes my lord but should I include 'THOSE'."

"Yeah why not he's gonna need as many boons as possible with such a precarious fate".
