Seraphina's Point Of View
"But I'll remind you just how low you are."
I didn't move.
I didn't react.
I just watched her, watched the way her chest heaved, the way her fingers twitched, the way her pride warred with her fear. Watched as she took a step back, her heels clicking sharply against the marble, the sound echoing like a gunshot in the silence.
And then she turned.
And she walked away.
Her spine was rigid, her steps sharp, her posture screaming defiance, but I saw it. The way her shoulders trembled, just slightly. The way her fingers curled into fists at her sides. The way she knew deep down, where it burned, that she'd just lost.
And me?
I just stood there.
My smile never wavering.
