After a brief discussion in regards to the changes that occurred with her body after she received her new bloodline and another "intimate" exchange, Huang Shi finally bade farewell to his lover.
"Mei'er, I'll be going to the Greenwood Forest to train. I'm not sure how long I'll be there for, but at the very least I want a good understanding of how strong I am when I return."
Li Mei nodded her head softly as she cuddled into him, her naked body glistening under the bright morning light that streamed through the windows. The glow highlighted the new, healthy luster of her skin.
"Be careful. If something were to happen to you, I wouldn't know what to do with myself."
Huang Shi smiled before kissing her forehead and whispering in her ear, "I know. I want you to be as strong as possible, Mei'er. Hopefully stronger than even my father."
Li Mei reached up and pinched his cheeks playfully before nodding her head. "I'm not sure how much I can improve my strength within the next couple of weeks, but I'll try my best."
After a couple more minutes of cuddling in bed together, Huang Shi finally left his estate and started walking towards the Azure Dragon Sect's mission hall.
Although he could just go straight towards the Greenwood Forest as is, he wanted some sort of excuse in case something happened.
I'll just take some random mission and just go on my way. I have no need for the rewards anyways.
After walking for a couple of minutes, he finally arrived at his destination. It was a massive building embedded with the designs that were a hallmark of the Azure Dragon Sect.
The walls were thick and grand, with giant markings of azure dragons carved into the stone surfaces. Large open doors stood at the front, where lots of disciples in sect robes were coming in and out in a constant rush.
I guess it makes sense that it would be more popular than the information hall. Missions mean merit points, and merit points mean more cultivation resources.
As for what merit points were, he had already learned about them from the information he read back in the information hall. It was basically the currency the sect used as a means to exchange rewards and resources with sect members.
If you achieve something significant, like killing members of an enemy sect, hunting dangerous spiritual beasts around the territory of the Azure Dragon Sect, or doing miscellaneous tasks to increase or maintain the influence of the sect, you could get merit points.
This meant that a lot of people crowded the mission hall every day to get resources like pills and weapons to improve their cultivation. This was especially the case since the Azure Dragon Sect Martial Arts Competition was just around the corner. The hall was loud with the sounds of talking and footsteps as everyone tried to prepare.
They probably want to find some way to rapidly increase their strength in a short period of time to get a good showing at the tournament.
Huang Shi shook his head internally. To be quite honest, he didn't care much for the merit points provided by the sect or even its resources.
He knew for a fact that if he had enough Scum Points, the resources he could buy from the system would be exponentially better than whatever he could receive from the sect.
After staring at the busy entrance for a couple of seconds, Huang Shi finally walked through the doors and quickly approached the reception desk.
"Is there any quests related to hunting spiritual beasts in the Greenwood Forest?" he spoke.
The person at the reception desk was a man at the 6th level of the Elementary Profound Realm. He looked quite timid and small; his name was Xi Kun.
Xi Kun looked up at the person who was asking, and when he saw Huang Shi's face, he quickly shivered in fear. His eyes went wide and his hands shook, like he had just found a powerful, hungry beast standing before him.
It seems my reputation has slowly changed from useless wastrel to a slightly more intimidating cultivator, Huang Shi inwardly smirked. Yet, he didn't let it show on his face as he waited for the reply.
Xi Kun gulped loudly, trying to force himself to calm down. He took a shaky breath before speaking quietly. "There are a total of five missions related to hunting spiritual beasts with the strength of the Elementary Profound Realm, while there are two missions related to hunting spiritual beasts in the Nascent Profound Realm. Which do you want to take, Senior Brother Huang Shi?"
Huang Shi looked at the available quest scrolls. Most of them involved hunting simple creatures like mutated wolves, deer, or boars. To be quite honest, he didn't care much for missions regarding Elementary Profound beasts. He realized over the past few days that his battle prowess was quite a bit higher than his actual cultivation level.
Although I don't know how strong I actually am, this entire adventure is for me to figure that out, Huang Shi thought to himself as he looked at the two missions that asked to hunt for Nascent Profound Realm spiritual beasts.
One of them was a task to hunt for a Green Leaf Poison Spider. It was a massive spider, around five meters long, with powerful, hairy legs and sharp mandibles that dripped with venom. Its bite was known to be deadly.
The other one was a task to hunt a Red-Eyed Bone Gorilla. It was a giant beast, double the size of the Green Leaf Poison Spider. It didn't have poison, but it was unique for its very strong physical body and bones that were as hard as iron.
Hmm... I wonder what would be harder to kill, Huang Shi thought for a few moments before choosing to take both of them. It wouldn't be much of a challenge if he picked and chose his targets. He wanted to test his limits.
I've already decided to break through into the Nascent Profound Realm anyway. I'll just do that before I go to the more dangerous parts of the Greenwood Forest.
He had originally wanted to finish his breakthrough back at his own estate, where it was quiet and safe. However, he had been so preoccupied with his lover and their time together that he had actually forgotten all about it.
