Rex held back his reaction to the system notification and tried to keep the right look of respectful interest on his face, even though right now, his mind was full of fucked-up things he could do to Valentina.

Furthermore, his foresight succeeded in identifying any potentially dangerous mind-reading or telepathy abilities in Valentina, and there's none. If she has one, Rex knows he fucked up.

Valentina looked around the group, and there was nothing warm or grandmotherly about her look. It was the judgment of someone who was excellent at judging threats, assets, and everything else with ruthless efficiency.

When her eyes met Rex's, he felt like she was really looking at him, like she was seeing a lot more than he was comfortable with.

'That look... a rather strong woman indeed, and it's going to be even better if I can break that vision of hers.'

Then she lost interest, and her face softened a little as she looked at her grandchildren.
