Chapter 3 - 3

A searing pain tore through Zhou Du. His left hand clutched his abdomen tightly, while his other hand, bracing against the desk for support, accidentally knocked over a stack of files. The loud crash finally interrupted the sickeningly tender atmosphere between the two.

Chu Luyao frantically waved her hand, signaling Song Yuhuan to leave first, then rushed to support Zhou Du, who was on the verge of collapsing. "Ah Du, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"

Pain blurred Zhou Du's vision, but he could still clearly see the thick worry in Chu Luyao's eyes, and even the faint glimmer of tears.

However, Zhou Du no longer felt the distress or touched emotion he once would have. He reached into the drawer, took out his pills, and swallowed them dry, without a drop of water. Only when the agony had subsided slightly did he speak in a flat, emotionless voice.

"I'm fine."

Chu Luyao finally became sensitive to his mood and asked cautiously.

"Ah Du, are you still angry because I came home late on our anniversary yesterday?"

Zhou Du raised his sword-like brows slightly and looked directly at her. "I have a client who recently divorced. Because his wife cheated, he was cleaned out and left the marriage with nothing..."

Hearing only half of it, Chu Luyao frowned. "It was clearly his wife who cheated, so why should he leave with nothing? If I fought that lawsuit, I could win him at least eighty percent of the assets."

"If you were to fall for another man..."

"It's impossible for me to fall in love with anyone else. Ah Du, you are not allowed to say such things in the future! Between us, there is no divorce, only widowhood!" Chu Luyao stepped forward and leaned into his embrace, her tone incredibly firm.

Zhou Du looked down at her serious, determined face, but the smile at the corner of his mouth was laced with bitterness and irony.

Widowhood?

Soon, that wish would come true.

Seeing that he remained silent, Chu Luyao felt an inexplicable panic rise in her heart. She wanted to say something more, but the phone she had placed on the desk suddenly began vibrating incessantly. A string of unsaved numbers flashed on the screen.

Chu Luyao hurriedly rejected the call.

Zhou Du pretended not to care. "Aren't you going to answer?"

Chu Luyao forced a smile. "It's nothing important. Just a new case the law firm took on. The client is being difficult and keeps making a fuss about wanting to speak with me in person."

Zhou Du nodded. "Then you should hurry and go. The case is important."

Seeing that his expression was normal, Chu Luyao breathed a sigh of relief. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed the corner of his mouth.

"I'll come back as soon as I handle it. Love you."

After saying this, Chu Luyao left in a hurry.

Not long after she left, Zhou Du sat back in his office chair and opened the company's surveillance feed.

It didn't take long for him to spot Chu Luyao in the stairwell camera feed. And right there with her was Song Yuhuan.

The two were exceptionally impatient.

As soon as they met, they embraced and kissed ferociously.

Song Yuhuan was tall and lean. One hand wrapped around Chu Luyao's waist, while the other impatiently tugged at the clothes on her chest.

Chu Luyao pushed him away half-heartedly twice, then simply let him have his way.

Through the monitor, Zhou Du watched with crystal clarity as his own wife accepted the passionate, feral advances of another man.

It wasn't until Song Yuhuan buried his head into the curves of Chu Luyao's chest and his hands began to explore further down...

Zhou Du gritted his teeth, saved the surveillance footage, and slammed the laptop shut with a snap.

Even though he had long decided to let go of everything here, he still couldn't control the overwhelming wave of nausea and fury.

The "lunch made with love" Chu Luyao had delivered at noon churned violently in his esophagus. The veins on the back of Zhou Du's hands bulged. He stumbled into the restroom and vomited uncontrollably.

In the end, all that came up into the sink was gastric acid mixed with streaks of blood.

Zhou Du looked at his wretched reflection in the mirror, his aura cold and biting. He rinsed his mouth and directly pressed the flush button.

Actually, right from the beginning of their relationship, Chu Luyao had shown herself to be extremely bold.

Their first kiss, their first night... Chu Luyao had initiated everything.

She wasn't shy like other girls. Every time she looked at him, her eyes held an undisguised directness. She even told him that love is possession.

She wanted to leave her marks on every part of Zhou Du, to tell everyone that he belonged to her.

Once, after they had finished being intimate, Chu Luyao had laid on top of him and bitten him hard right over his heart. Then, pointing at the mark, she declared with utter dominance:

"Ah Du, from now on, this place belongs only to me."

Then she took his hand and placed it over her own chest. "And here, it will forever beat only for you."

Zhou Du had never met a girl so bold and unique. It was precisely because of her frankness that he had fallen so deeply.

But now, she was the one who had personally thrown his sincere heart onto the ground and trampled it into the dust!

Zhou Du's eyes were bloodshot, startling the secretary who came in to report on work. The secretary trembled as he handed over the documents.

"President Zhou, these are the files that need your signature. You... you don't look well. Do you want to rest for a bit?"

Zhou Du had already adjusted his emotions. However, as he flipped through the documents and saw a promotion report tucked in the middle, his brows furrowed tightly.

"Song Yuhuan has only been at the company for a year. What miraculous achievement justifies a promotion to Vice President of the General Manager's Office?"

The secretary whispered the answer, "It was approved by President Chu."

Although Chu Luyao had long ago gifted all the company shares to him, because their relationship appeared to be practically one entity in the eyes of outsiders, she could still make executive decisions.

Zhou Du looked at the promotion report in his hand and finally couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.

Good. Very good!

Zhou Du looked at the Yaodu logo in the office. In the past, he felt this was the witness to their love.

Now, he felt it was just a joke.

Since he had decided to leave, then everything connected to it had to be disposed of cleanly!

The first item Zhou Du dealt with was the wine estate located in France.

When Zhou Du and Chu Luyao first started their business, they made their first pot of gold by selling wine.

The wine they sold used a brewing recipe left by Zhou Du's mother, combined with Chu Luyao's research and study of viticulture.

Chu Luyao had always said that this wine estate was a monument to their beautiful life and should be passed down forever.

She had even named the estate after Zhou Du—[DU].

Zhou Du listed it for a price far below market value, and someone took the offer almost immediately.

While Zhou Du was still busy disposing of other assets, Chu Luyao burst into the home study, drenched from head to toe.

Her black hair was still dripping water, and her clothes clung tightly to her skin, revealing her alluring curves. Her red lips gasped for breath as she looked at him, her tone filled with panic and fear:

"You sold [DU]?"
