Chapter 83 - Matt Is Bored

Loki has been very happy recently. After leaving Asgard and coming to Kamar-Taj, no one treated him differently from Thor. At Kamar-Taj, both he and Thor began their studies as Apprentice Sorcerers.

In just eight or nine days, he used his profound knowledge of magic to win over many sorcerers at Kamar-Taj.

Now, at Kamar-Taj, people call him—Grand Master Loki.

'Sorcerer Lucas did not deceive me. The sorcerers at Kamar-Taj are all good people, and they speak so nicely, I really love it there.'

'But now, I must continue to conquer the mortals outside Kamar-Taj, to let them also understand the greatness of magic.'

In the center of the crowd, Loki, surrounded by admirers, looked radiant.

He was no longer satisfied with merely describing the wonder and greatness of magic, he intended to personally demonstrate it to these muggles.

As Loki's magic flowed, vivid illusions emerged, dazzling and enchanting. Even the most advanced movie special effects were far from comparable.

"Grand Master Loki! Grand Master Loki!"

In the crowd, a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl was the first to cheer, shouting Loki's nickname at Kamar-Taj.

"Grand Master Loki! Grand Master Loki!"

Immediately after, the crowd followed suit, cheering.

Loki's true body sat in a chair in a corner, holding a glass of wine. He narrowed his eyes slightly and took a small sip.

It was clear he enjoyed the crowd's cheers.

Seeing this, Lucas did not go forward to disturb him.

After discussing business with Tony, he had intended to ask Loki how he was doing at Kamar-Taj. Now there was no need to ask, it was certainly going very well.

Lucas remained seated, gently raising his wrist. Divine power flowed, emanating from his body. Like an invisible hand, it lifted the cheering girl to a nearby seat.

"Erin, it's getting late. You should go home. Although you asked Tony to pass a message to your family, they'll be worried if they haven't heard from you for so long."

The girl was Erin.

Since following Tony to Kamar-Taj, she had stayed there for several days.

The first few days were waiting for news from Lucas, and the latter few were accompanying Matt.

Tonight, Lucas came to New York to see Tony, and also brought her back along the way.

Earlier, he had business to attend to, so he let Erin wander around the party, helping herself to food and drink. Since she was already there, it wouldn't be too late to play for a while before going back.

Erin nodded. "Then Lucas, you can send me back."

"Alright."

Lucas rotated his wrist, gently drawing a circle with his fingers.

A fist-sized circle appeared. As the circle floated forward, it rapidly expanded, forming a portal.

It stopped right in front of Erin.

Before Erin stepped into the portal, Lucas suddenly remembered something and instructed her, "Erin, tomorrow, go to the Nelson & Murdock Law Office in Hell's Kitchen. Tell Foggy Nelson at the law firm about Matt's situation."

"What should I say?" Erin asked.

"Tell the truth." Lucas replied.

Erin then asked, "Ehat if Foggy Nelson doesn't believe it?"

Lucas offered advice, "If Foggy doesn't believe you, take him to the New York Sanctum. Find the guardian sorcerer there and have him transport you both to Kamar-Taj."

"Seeing is believing. Once he's at Kamar-Taj, he'll believe it."

"Okay."

Erin agreed and stepped into the portal.

Lucas felt a bit annoyed.

He had forgotten earlier that, although Matt was an orphan, he had a close friend—Foggy Nelson.

They were university alumni, roommates, intern colleagues, and business partners. In short, their relationship was very good.

After graduation, the two together opened a law firm in Hell's Kitchen—Nelson & Murdock Law Office.

Matt had been missing for more than ten days, with no news, so Foggy was probably losing sleep recently.

Shaking his head helplessly, Lucas's figure dissipated in place.

He had no intention of meeting with the other Avengers members. They weren't close.

As a portal opened and closed, spanning time zones, day and night shifted.

Lucas returned from the night party at Tony's house in New York to the courtyard of Kamar-Taj where sorcerers were doing their morning exercises.

For the vast majority of sorcerers, diligent practice, day after day, year after year, was essential to progress.

Wanda and Pietro, the two newly initiated practitioners, were also among them, diligently learning the standardized casting movements. But this had nothing to do with Lucas, he didn't need it.

The idle Lucas walked to a rocking chair in the corner, preparing to lie down and get some good sleep.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw another equally out-of-place, idle figure.

Matt Murdock.

"Matt, good morning."

"Lucas, good morning."

After exchanging greetings with Matt, Lucas asked caringly, "How is it? Are you used to staying at Kamar-Taj?"

Matt nodded, then shook his head.

Lucas looked at him with a confused expression, his brow furrowed.

Seeing this, Matt explained, "Everyone here at Kamar-Taj is very easy to get along with. It's just that the spiritual body can't touch physical objects. After a long time, with nothing to do, it gets a bit boring."

"The spiritual body can't touch physical objects?" Lucas fell silent, deep in thought.

The first spiritual body he encountered was the Ancient One from Earth-616, and he didn't have this problem.

For the subsequent souls he encountered, Lucas's divine power could directly touch them, and he didn't notice this problem either.

Moreover, out of guilt, after he rescued Matt's soul, he used his points to nourish it.

From a spiritual perspective, Matt's soul was quite solid. And Lucas hadn't met Matt many times during this period.

For all these reasons, Lucas had never noticed the inconvenience of Matt's soul.

'How did the Ancient One manage to transform spirit into substance? It shouldn't be that old-fashioned method of compressing energy, right?'

While thinking, Lucas reached out his hand. A ball of energy appeared in his palm, and he attempted to compress it.

After a brief attempt, he gave up. Compressing energy would change its structure. If the energy structure changed, it would become unstable, even exploding. It was simply impossible for it to become a physical entity.

This was a transformation between the ethereal and the real, not a change in the gaseous, liquid, or solid states of matter.

However, a thought flashed through Lucas's mind, and he remembered something.

Stephen Strange.
