Damian stood near the edge of the track field, heart hammering so hard he could feel it in his throat.
The video had already gone viral. It was everywhere. Someone had caught the entire kiss from multiple angles, and by the time the final bell rang, half the school had seen it. People stared as they walked past him. Some whispered behind their hands. Some smiled and gave him a thumbs-up. Others shot dirty looks or muttered under their breath.
He kept his face down, shoulders hunched, trying to disappear even though he knew it was pointless now. He was supposed to be used to the staring and whispers, but somehow this felt different. He'd never been glared at because of something positive, it was always because of some stupid gossip, or whenever he was getting bullied.
He remained calm where he stood, avoiding eye contact with as many as he could, while praying in his heart for Zayn to show up as soon as possible.
