Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

[The Succubus Nun of the Church!]

[Recommended Level: 5][Quest Description: Yvessa was abandoned as an infant and raised by two nuns in Silvermoon Town. Because of her breathtaking beauty and exceptionally alluring figure, she became the most eye-catching nun in the church. Whenever she prayed, the streets would be packed to the brim with onlookers. Recently, however, something has happened—the church is now in urgent need of funds. To address this crisis, the church's administrators appear to be planning the revival of a certain ancient transaction system…]

[Quest Objective: Resolve the church's crisis!]

[Quest Reward: Yvessa's Ascension Materials (Grants one new tag)]

[Hidden Quest: Save Yvessa!]

[Reward: ?]

"?"

"There's even a hidden quest?"

Kurose Akira rubbed his chin, mildly surprised.

The quest description made the general nature of the mission clear—put simply, the church was short on money and needed a large sum of funds.

As for the hidden quest, there was no further explanation at all. Even the reward was marked with a question mark.

"Recommended level five, huh… No need to rush. I can level Yvessa up a bit first."

Akira didn't intend to tackle the character quest without preparation. From the recommended level and the presence of a hidden quest, it was obvious that Yvessa's character quest carried a certain degree of difficulty—it wasn't something to be taken lightly.

Considering that there were still two commission quests left unfinished and that there was no time pressure, Akira decided to clear the commissions first.

He asked, "Yvessa, there are still a few commission quests to take care of today. Interested?"

"Of course! As long as it's you—even if there were more, I'd accept them all!"

At the mention of new tasks, excitement and anticipation lit up Yvessa's stunning face.

"Let's go. I'll come with you this time."

Akira pushed open the side door of the bar counter and stepped out.

"You're coming with me on the mission?" Yvessa asked in surprise.

"Yeah."

Akira nodded. Thanks to the [Unwaveringly Loyal] trait, he could provide Yvessa with a 100% combat power boost. And as Guildmaster, he also needed to accumulate combat experience—at the very least, he had to understand how his adventurers fought.

Watching in person was far more effective than observing through projected footage.

"Alright… I'll do my best to protect you."

A trace of concern surfaced in Yvessa's eyes. She was worried that Akira might get hurt during the upcoming mission.

Akira said nothing in response. He simply walked calmly toward the guild's main door and stepped into the teleportation array.

White light flared.

The scenery in Akira's vision shifted rapidly.

When his sight stabilized again, he found himself standing amid ruins—charred houses and collapsed buildings stretched out in all directions.

From the remains of several burned wooden huts in the distance, a few dark shadows darted past at high speed, so fast he could barely make out their forms.

"Are those the mission targets… Fireburst Rats?"

Akira muttered to himself.

It seemed the fire that had destroyed this village was caused by the very creatures he was hunting.

As Akira surveyed the surroundings, Yvessa's expression changed dramatically.

"How could this be…?"

The moment she arrived at the mission area, disbelief filled her face.

She realized that her combat power had increased significantly for no apparent reason—and the source of that strength left her confused.

Was it… because of Mr. Akira?

She couldn't help but glance at him from afar, her eyes filled with astonishment and curiosity.

"Fireburst Rats hide beneath collapsed ruins. Is there a way to force them out?" Akira asked, fully focused on the environment, searching for the concealed targets.

"Ah—yes…"

Yvessa snapped back to herself and replied softly, "Leave it to me."

As she spoke, she stepped forward.

Then, clasping her hands together, Yvessa quietly began to chant.

In the blink of an eye, a thread of radiant holy magic flickered in her palms, illuminating the surrounding area.

[Light Spell: Illuminates the surrounding area and disperses weak monsters.]

Even monsters lurking in deep shadows couldn't withstand the侵蚀 of holy magic. One after another, they scattered and fled, desperately putting distance between themselves and Yvessa.

Akira fixed his gaze on the fleeing monsters, searching for the Fireburst Rats.

Finally—

A plump, red-furred rat, nearly the size of a house cat, burst out from the rubble and fled at full speed toward the distance.

"There!" Akira was just about to act—

When Yvessa merely lifted a finger.

In an instant, dark-violet flames leapt from her fingertip, engulfing the Fireburst Rat completely.

With a thunderous boom, its body exploded, turning into a cloud of blood mist.

A progress notification immediately appeared in Akira's vision:

[Fireburst Rats defeated (1/5)]

"That magic is insanely efficient…"

Akira looked at Yvessa in surprise.

She could wield both holy magic and dark magic. Her potential and versatility far exceeded his expectations.

After dealing with the first Fireburst Rat, Akira and Yvessa continued using the same method, flushing out the remaining rats hidden among the ruins.

Before long, Akira completed the requirement of killing five Fireburst Rats.

However, once the task was done, something felt off.

Fireburst Rats could indeed ignite fires by manipulating fire elements in the air—but this village was far too large. A handful of Fireburst Rats alone couldn't possibly have reduced it to this level of destruction.

Which raised an unsettling question.

Could there be other monsters here?

"Something bothering you?"

Yvessa walked toward Akira. Due to the harsh environment, her nun's habit had grown dusty and soiled, stained with ash from the fires.

"Yeah. There are probably other monsters still in the village," Akira replied, nodding.

He was certain of it.

And judging from Yvessa's character quest, there was likely a hidden objective involved. As for how to trigger it—there might be prerequisites.

Or perhaps it required witnessing something specific.

Since this was still a beginner-level commission quest, even if a hidden objective existed, its difficulty shouldn't be too high.

"Other monsters… If there really are others…"Yvessa seemed to recall something and continued, "Then the most likely place would be the village granary. The fire there was much weaker."

"The granary?"

Akira's eyes lit up instantly. He broke into a run toward the edge of the village."That has to be it. Let's go!"

A few minutes later, they arrived at the granary.

It stood on the outskirts of the village. Because the fire here had been relatively mild, Akira had overlooked it earlier.

And that very abnormality was proof that something else was hiding here.

Yvessa's attention to detail impressed him.

Akira stepped forward, reaching for the granary door, ready to push it open.

"Watch out!"

Sensing danger, Yvessa lunged toward him without hesitation.

Before Akira could even react, he realized he had been knocked to the ground, Yvessa's soft, supple body pressing down on him. The heavy, undeniable weight made his pupils tremble slightly.

The sensation was terrifyingly real.

Just how insane was this game's realism?

It felt as though an unparalleled beauty had truly thrown herself on top of him.

And—

Yvessa's body was… really incredible.

At that exact moment—

As Akira was pinned beneath Yvessa—

The granary's wooden doors were suddenly torn apart by a massive claw, exploding into splinters.

The next second, a colossal Fireburst Rat—its body as large as a tiger or leopard—slowly emerged from the granary, staring down at the two figures sprawled on the ground with predatory intent…
