Chapter 6 - First steps

[AI MALE VOICE], {AI FEMALE VOICE}

"Normal speaking"

____________________________________________

Two months had passed. Bruce began attending Gotham Academy after a few days, ensuring the trauma a young child should have was believable. Why did he wait for a few days? He had to create something before that. And what was that? He couldn't live in the large manor alone now, could he? He was a 10-year-old boy in the public's eyes and, as such, needed someone to take care of him. Besides, the mansion was large and wouldn't clean itself. If he had created a self-cleaning mansion this early, people would have asked questions.

Bruce was walking down the stairs in the morning and sat down at the breakfast table. He waited for a moment, starting to read the large stack of newspapers from all over the world, when the door to the kitchen opened, and a tall, well-built man walked in with the attire of a butler. He had the appearance of an elderly man, dressed elegantly in a traditional black uniform with white gloves, and wearing a neutral expression.

"Good morning, Master Bruce. How did you sleep? I have made your breakfast, I hope you enjoy," the man said.

"Good morning, Sebas. I'm sure it is heavenly as usual, thank you," Bruce answered.

Yes, Bruce created Sebas, and the word "created" was the correct one. Although the name didn't mean anything to Bruce, it felt right somehow. Sebas was a human with Alfred's genes, which Bruce found around the manor. After that, the process was rather simple. Cloning technology was as easy as pie for Bruce, and he did it with little more than the tech he had at home. He created a clone with Sebastian's appearance from Overlord, which meant nothing to him. He didn't have his previous life's memories after all.

(Picture)

Sebas' hair was entirely white, just like his immaculate beard. He had visible wrinkles on his hollow face, which made him seem gentle in appearance, but his eyes were as sharp as an eagle's. Bruce also didn't just make him a normal human. He didn't add anything supernatural, just yet. That meant no superpowers.

But he had plans to add certain technology to him. He was going to turn him into a cyborg to assist him on his future missions. But that wasn't necessary right now. Bruce created a memory downloader. This was a small device that could download any information from the internet or by scanning, and then upload it to the brain. He used that to make Sebas into a perfect butler.

Sebas had a few similarities to the one from 'Overlord'. Since he wasn't a person born and raised the normal way, he had the character Bruce programmed. Sebas did not completely despise people who commit bad deeds or see them as inferior creatures. Instead, he believed that some humans were good people, and it was the duty of the strong to protect the weak. However, humans with an ugly nature disgusted him, and he would not hesitate to kill anyone who dared to oppose Bruce or Wayne Manor.

Sebas was in no way a hero. While he believed Bruce's plans were the right thing to do, they were programmed by Bruce to make things easier. Sebas had 100% loyalty to Bruce and would never go against his master's wishes, unless his master was in danger. Should the situation require it, Sebas was capable of martial arts, which he practised whenever he had time. Bruce wanted his Butler to know any kind of martial art. It could all be useful someday.

The truth was a bit darker still. Bruce cared nothing for having someone to talk to, especially not one who had 'morals' in the traditional sense, which was why he was meticulous in creating Sebas. Sebas was here out of convenience, and Bruce played his part. If someone came to Wayne Manor, he would be there, and in the missions to come, Sebas would support Bruce. But other than that, Sebas was a front.

.

"How was last night's project, Master Bruce? You were successful, I presume?", Sebas asked.

"I guess that is one way to put it..."

...

(Flashback)

Bruce was standing at the beginning of what would one day become the Batgarage. He had started terraforming it a few weeks ago with tools he had created. Creating Sebas was the best decision, as it allowed him access to the resources he needed, and doing it smartly meant no one would ever find out he bought anything. After he chose the study as the entrance, he created a way down to the Batcave that already existed there. And then he began terraforming. It wasn't hard with the tools he made.

Right now, he was writing the last few lines of code for his experiment.

A big part of the Batgarage was the Computer. The brain of the entire thing. It was already, as the first version, so far ahead of anything that could be created right now that Bruce might as well be considered a time traveller. Though he was a Time Lord now... strange how that worked. And he wasn't finished with improving it anyway. He had a lot of time to do that. But for what he was doing right now, it was enough.

Bruce finished the last line of code and then started it up.

...

...

{BOOTING ... SUCCESSFUL ... HELLO ... SWEETY} The voice came from the speakers he had installed.

Bruce just looked at the monitor for a moment without answering. He was surprised that he got the voice right. Although not really, since he knew he could do it. But he was surprised by his own reaction to the voice.

{ARE YOU SURPRISED TO HEAR MY VOICE, SWEETY? IT IS A MARVELLOUS PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY YOU CREATED. ARE YOU ALRIGHT?}

[GIVE HIM TIME, HUNNY. HE SEEMS TO BE SURPRISED THAT IT WORKED AND NOW HE NEEDS TIME. ISN'T THAT RIGHT ... SON?]

...

"Not really... father."

That's right, Bruce had programmed an Artificial Intelligence. Two, to be precise. And he gave them the voices of his parents. How was that possible? The perks of being a genius came with a curse as well. Bruce didn't know why he did this. He didn't know why he would do this to himself, but he just wanted to hear their voices again, to see his own reaction to them. He wasn't his old self anymore, as hard as it was to define what or who he really was.

Bruce was and is all of the people whose templates he chose at once. He was a different Bruce Wayne, but he still was him, as it turned out.

Bruce talked with his 'parents' for a while that night, and the conversation led to a few interesting discoveries. He was in the body of a 10-year-old child. That brought about some changes in his usual demeanour. But he wasn't a normal 10-year-old, and he wasn't even fully human anymore. He was now an amalgamation of Galvan, Human, Time Lord, and Custodes. Together with his millennia of experience, Bruce managed to close this topic.

{WHY DO WE SOUND LIKE THIS HUNNY?}

"What do you mean?"

[YOU KNOW WHAT SHE MEANS. THE FACT THAT WE SOUND LIKE OUR VOICES COME FROM THE NEXT ROOM. ARE YOU TRYING TO TORTURE YOURSELF?]

"No ... at least not fully. I was interested to see how I would react, whether I was still Bruce or had been fully changed by my experiences. I will close this part of my life today, because as it turns out, I am no longer the same Bruce, but not completely different either. I wanted to talk to you two one last time. This won't hold me back, no matter what. I am far too old, mentally, for that."

{DON'T APPOLOGISE, DEAR. I AM VERY PROUD THAT YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH TO MOVE FORWARD FROM THIS EXPERIENCE. AND THAT AT YOUR AGE... MOMMY IS VERY PROUD OF YOU. JUST REMEMBER ... THAT MOM AND DAD, WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU}

[INDEED, YOU REMEMBER THAT SON. YOU ARE A WAYNE AND NEVER FORGET THAT.]

"I won't. Goodbye, father and mother ..."

{GOODBYE HUNNY}

[GOODBYE SON, LIVE WELL]

.

That was the end of that. Bruce deleted the AI after this talk with his parents. The experiment had turned out to yield fruit, and he understood himself better now. His mind was what he relied on, and if he wanted help in the Batgarage, he would rather have an emotionless AI that controlled the house or was connected to him. He was going to upgrade the entire mansion soon to automate many things and increase security.

(Flashback end)

.

.

"What are your plans today, Master Bruce?" Sebas asked.

"I am sending the decoy to school, so I have time to focus on something else. I will begin with terraforming the Batgarage. I've waited long enough, all the tools are ready, and I have to do it eventually. So I might as well do it today."

"I see. Well then, I wish you all the luck you can get."

"Thank you, Sebas."

.

Gotham Academy was hell for Bruce's genius mind. He felt like time passed in nanoseconds when he was there. Time Lords were sensitive to timelines, being able to see "all that is, all that was, all that ever could be, but also what must not be". All that only enhanced his misery. He wasn't interested in showing off his intelligence. He was far too much Bruce Wayne, the new most paranoid man in existence and also Azmuth the rational Galvan, The Doctor, Rick Prime and Constantin Valdor, to be so stupid as to show the world anything he could do.

For this reason, Bruce created his decoy very soon after he had made Sebas. He usually stayed at home so the decoys could go to school for him. No matter what happened, he would get all the important information from the decoy at the end of the day.

So now, as his decoy went to school, he had time to form his Batgarage. He had already decided that he was going to recreate something like the Batcave, but ... better. He didn't want to have a driveway that led anyone to his secret hideout. And neither did he want a visit from Deathstroke at night, showing off his genius and revealing that he knows Bruce Wayne is Batman.

No, that wasn't for him. He would have a closed Batcave that is protected on all sides. The only thing he lacked at the moment was all the final materials to truly do what he wanted. But all in good time. The snowball had already started rolling downhill, and it would soon turn into an avalanche.

So after he had finally settled all his plans, Bruce began working on the fundamental technologies needed to build the Batcave.

.

The first tool he made was called the Terrain Tool. He got that idea from a game he knew. He didn't remember his past life, but he knew he had different pictures of experiments, creations, and inventions from all around the multiverse. That was useful because he could make ANYTHING he wanted, and that was not him being arrogant.

(Picture)

The Terrain Tool was very useful because it could not only suck up any and all materials, but also store quite a lot of them. But the coolest thing was that the materials were compressed into the smallest space he could find for now. He would upgrade this in the future.

So the Terrain Tool had three different modes. The Excavate Mode, the Elevate Mode and the Flatten Mode. Apart from that, it was also useful to collect and store the material, as mentioned.

The Terrain Tool's "Dig/Excavate" mode could be used to dig out the terrain, create ditches, dig tunnels, and gather Resources. This was the mode he used to dig out the Batgarage ... He named it the Batgarage.

By engaging "Raise/Elevate" mode, the Terrain Tool expanded stored Soil in order to raise the terrain. He modified it so he could choose which materials to use for building with this function. He could have had the Terrain Tool modify a surface made with diamonds if he so wished.

"Flatten/Level" mode was used to flatten terrain to the angle of a selected terrain's voxel. A voxel was a grid point in a three-dimensional grid.

.

That was the tool he used to excavate materials and do the groundwork. He upgraded the Terrain Tool in his mind quite soon after that, for the finer details, which brings us to the second tool Bruce thought of. It was called the Creation Tool. Yeah, his naming sense was bad, but at least it was informative.

(Picture)

It was basically the Terrain Tool but without limits. It should technically excavate, store or destroy any and all materials infinitely. But that was something for the future. For now, the Terrain Tool would do fine.

Now, something he created to go together with the Terrain Tool. That was the second creation Bruce actually made. The Building Backpack. It was from the same game where Bruce got the idea for the Terrain Tool. It worked well together because the materials that couldn't be stored in the Terrain Tool could be stored in the Building Backpack.

(Picture)

.

And that brings us to the last invention, Bruce made for the moment, which concerned building. He called it the Atomiser. It really did what it said. You fed it junk, and the Atomiser split it into its respective Atoms. These would then be stored in cubes, and he would later use them as building blocks to ... essentially create any element he wished.

(Picture)

It was ... quite ridiculous. He had created mind-blowing technology out of what was essentially junk he found lying around the garage or the garbage.

But Bruce was only just getting started. He had far too many ideas for what to create, and his paranoia was getting to him, making him think of so many potential scenarios in which he could or might find himself. He remembered that one time Batman used his black underwear to protect his face while falling from outer space ... He meant that was one powerful pair of underwear.

Maybe there were other uses for underwear, too... like turning it into a parachute or a plane. Why stop there? Have the underwear transform into a combat suit to fight off 4-dimensional imps and stuff like that... he guessed that's what he was going to do. An underwear Mega Man X Armour or something like that.

(Bruce POV)

Being Bruce Wayne was shit when going to school. And even though I didn't have to go to school, I still had to upload all the information the decoy experienced at the end of the day. I mean, there is not one day when I'm not approached by someone trying to get close to me for some reason. I mean, I'm not ugly or anything like that, but I'm also not beautiful to warrant this reaction. Oh wait ... I'm rich.

Finally, after a week of trying to survive this torture that was worse than what I imagined the Omega Sanction to be, although I have never experienced it, I have an idea of the formula that is needed to create something like that. Not even that hard to be honest.

Anyway. I finally created something amazing, or rather cool. And it came in the form of a pair of glasses. I used them to remotely control the robot I created in the Batcave. With this, I managed to continue saving my thoughts and playing around with them.

It worked like a tablet 1000 years ahead of its time. I had the glasses connect to my brainwaves so that I didn't have to say my thoughts out loud. That way, I could come up with ideas, save them right away, and then juggle them. If it interested me, I'd save the end result; if not, I wouldn't. Speeding things up was more important than I realised, although I had this inherent loathing towards artificial intelligence and creating the AI with my parents' voices was torture. Being Constantin Valdor for over 10 millennia had that effect on you.

I had to overcome this and find a fine balance, or compromise. With my intelligence now, I am more than capable of designing AI that would be truly loyal. On the other hand, while there might not be Chaos personified, there were still endless ways that technology could turn against me. So that had to be addressed.

I was currently working on a way to send my consciousness into a virtual reality where I could spend time as my body functioned on autopilot. You might ask yourself, "Why would I do that?" Well, the answer might surprise you ... just because. And in virtual reality, I could create my projects ahead of time, test their usefulness, and verify that they worked as intended.

.

As time passed, I still had the Talon under my control, gathering dirt and intelligence on all the Wayne Enterprises board members. He was diligently doing his work, and I was content that the mind control pin was still working so well. I needed to be in control. He was doing good work.

The information I have so far has been good and useful for my plans. I wanted to take over everything at Wayne Enterprises, but I didn't want to handle it... for now. That would be the job of 'Bruce Wayne'. During that time, Batman would do other things. More enjoyable things. That is also why I had my uncle take control of the company for me.

It won't be long now before I begin the operation: Blackmail takeover.

.

.

(Alton Carver POV)

The child's a monster!!! No ... he's not a child ... he's something else!! He kept me prisoner in my own mind and forced me to do his bidding.

Thankfully, I am finally able to have my own thoughts again. It was so painful to go against this stupid mind control pin ... My training is starting to show... I am more thankful to have trained so gruesomely than ever before...

"I ... m-mu..st ... focus ... " I still can't form full sentences. But I'm getting better and better.

The Wayne child doesn't know about this. It will be a surprise when he finds out that I wasn't under his control. As soon as I can form my own sentences again, I'll tell the Court what happened. They need to know how dangerous he is.

__________

I thought I would explain a few things here. It is rather complicated to write Bruce now, since he has so many different and powerful life experiences. Changing the way he thought as Constantin Valdor will not be possible, not fully, but he will eventually create a helpful AI, since he is also Rick Prime and Azmuth.

So if things are a bit controversial and he contradicts himself at times, there is a valid reason for that. Imagine his Valdor-self being the inhibitor to all the crazy shit he would do otherwise.
